If you are able to, treating your pets and carpets will speed up the process...

👉🏻 FLEA TREATMENTS FOR DOGS:

👉🏻 FLEA TREATMENTS FOR CATS:

We put the traps in every room where our pets spent time...

👉🏻 FLEXIBLE “GOOSENECK” LAMP:

Do NOT use LED bulbs, as they don’t put out any heat... fleas are like heat seeking missiles. We used the curly CFL bulbs and they worked great...

👉🏻 CFL BULBS:

👉🏻 FLEA TREATMENT FOR CARPETS:

Sprinkle baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) on the carpets and use a broom to sweep it in, wait a couple of days then vacuum and repeat. The sodium dries out the fleas and eggs. If you use the typical small boxes you get at the grocery store, you’ll run out quickly, so I’ve included a link to a large bag below.

BAKING SODA:

👉🏻 DAWN DISHWASHING SOAP:

Dawn smaller size:

👉🏻 PET HAIR??? AN ABSOLUTE LIFE CHANGER... the iRobot Roomba i7+ vacuum for PET HAIR. It automatically returns to its station and empties itself. I’ve had one for 2 years. 👌🏻

We tried that years ago and it only killed about half the fleas. The best, 100% guaranteed way to get rid of ALL your fleas is to sprinkle table salt on your carpet and place bowls of water in each room, the salt dehydrates the fleas, they jump into the water a end up drowning. The salt breaks down into a fine powder without ruining your carpet and all you have to do is vacuum it up when you’re done. We had an infestation that was so bad the exterminator wanted thousands to to take care of and we did it for less then $10.

I hate seeing living things die, but when it comes to ticks, fleas, or other parasites, it does put a smile on my face.

I did something similar years ago. My place was infested with fleas. At night, I put a big glop of maple syrup into a paper plate. Then I put it in the middle of the living room on the carpet. I turned off all of the lights & shined a flashlight onto the plate. They all jumped into the syrup & got stuck. It literally got rid of them all. I didn't see any more after that. :)

Sir, you my man need an award. I took this idea and applied it to my cat. I gave my kitten the I just got 2 hours before a Dawn bath, of course being careful of the face. Easily 75 dead fleas by the end of the bath. 3 days later I'm still not seeing any fleas on him. You are a true hero.

God damn fleas. Damn them straight to hell. Every time I scratch I just get madder, my anger grows deeper. They will pay.

I can't believe how many thumbs down there are! Fleas and exterminators join in on the negative action. SMH.. I LOVE this video! I'm definitely gonna give this a try! Thank you bud!

You don't need Dawn, any dish soap/detergent will work. The detergent works in 2 ways. The first way is it breaks down the surface tension on the water. Fleas can be light enough to float on top of water, but the detergent makes the water wetter in essence and thus the fleas fall right into the water rather than being able to float and be dry. Now they can't breathe.
The second thing the detergent does is break down the waxy coating fleas (and other arthropods) have on their bodies. Insects and arachnids don't breathe through their face like most animals do. They have tiny holes in their abdomens called Spiracles. Their abdomens move in and out to exchange air much like our lungs expend and contact to do the same thing. With arthropods the waxy coating is supposed to protect the body from too much water absorbing through their exoskeleton and spiracles. The detergent breaks down that wax letting water seep into their body and spiracles so they drown.
I suggest you get some diatomaceous earth and finely sprinkle that stuff all over your floors, esp the carpeted ones. Diatomaceous earth is a fine gray/tan colored powder that is naturally mined from the earth. It is comprised of fossilized diatoms which were single celled creatures that lived in the oceans and still do. When fossilized their bodies are sharp, like broken glass though harmless to us. However, this dust is harmful to arthropods (insects, arachnids). When arthropods walk through the diatomaceous earth it sticks to them. As it coats their bodies it literally cuts through their exoskeletons letting air getting in where it's not supposed to and dries them out. It does the same thing to the eggs of the offending creatures.
Sprinkle this earth all over the floor using a fine sieve and close off that room for about 3 days. Keep pets out of rooms with the earth on the floor. Even though it's non toxic and natural, you don't want it in the eyes of your animals because their heads are much closer to the floors than ours are. After 3-4 days, vacuum the heck out of that room.
If you can seal the doors with tape, the fleas can't get out of that room. Try to do as many rooms as you can at once to kill as many fleas as you can at once.

I kind of miss having pets, but I do not miss flea infestations, or ticks.

Wow, this really worked great! I used a battery powered led lamp over bowl of water with dawn, turned off the ceiling light and within fifteen minutes had about ten of the little bitters. Have just been moving it from room to room, cats have not bothered it. No mess. And the fleas are almost gone. Thank you so much for posting this method.

Years ago when i got my first puppy my house was so infested with fleas that when you went to crawl in bed it felt like static on your legs. I bombed the house 4 times. The fleas partied...lol...didnt kill one. I used raid flying insect spray...hold your breath and spray the entire room on the floor as you back out. Then shut the door. Repeat once aweek for about 4 weeks. All fleas...eggs...larvae gone. And i treated the dog

Fleas like warm, the detergent breaks down the surface tension of the water, fleas are so light they can jump off of clean water, with much less surface tension they drown, excellent trick.

Mist the room with lemon and lavender oil mixed in water. No fleas. Five years, three cats, no fleas.

This really works, I went and bought 3 small desk lamps and plastic plates today and set them on the floor in my apartment, 2 in my living room and 1 in bedroom, I can see many of them taking the dive every minute now. Thanks for the fantastic idea,

To prevent your pet from drinking it, you can remove the front grid of a fan and place over the plate of water. I also have a plant basket that worked well. Added benefit, it prevents the fan from accidentally being tipped over into the water dish
