car dealers and salesmen DON'T WANT or NEED you to buy right now because inventory is very low, and they are looking for profit from each and every vehicle that they have on their lot.

So they want people who dont know what the cars are worth and they're just going to take advantage and mark up anything as much ad they can. Sounds the same.

I am the guy who pays car dealers when they submit their loan for approval. Just get your financing from your bank or credit union and do not ever talk price or car payments or let them know you are paying cash until you get into the finance office. Get the oldest care they have on the lot as they pay a flooring fee to the manufacturer each month they don’t sell their cars. On the invoice is a hold back that gets paid to the dealer when sold and the service warranty is a scam on a new car. The aftermarket products are where they get the money so when you have a $3000 rebate and they sell you a service warranty for $3000 did you get a deal? No. Buyer beware car dealers are not a non profit organization.

I bought a 2020 Civic Type R a couple of weeks ago, for under MSRP, which is actually pretty good for that car. Then again, it's such a niche car that the dealership in my low-volume, low-population area wasn't exactly having a flood of people beating a path to their lot. This car pretty much costs what it costs, with very little fluctuation. Now, people trying to buy Ridgelines or CR-Vs, on the other hand, I could hear the sales people on their phones giving folks the news that there wasn't much to choose from, and I could hear the deals being negotiated that were pretty much echoing what Ari is saying. And this dealership is a pretty good one, with solid people who in the 20+ years I've dealt with them, have always been pretty fair. I can only imagine what less scrupulous folks are doing.

They suck even more! There are no incentives commercials, no rebates.. I've noticed.

Waiting until COVID is “over”. A lot of businesses have closed, for good. Many of these people had leases on cars they could barely afford. I expect to see a flood of leases / cpo come in as these jobs do not return, government assistance stalls, and job market stabilizes.

This is the worst time to lease or buy a car. Since they don't have much inventory, whatever they have is more expensive than before.

Who knew Christopher Walken had such great information on buying cars.

I don't get it. Dealerships here in the Atlanta area BEFORE THE PANDEMIC were renting space to store unsold inventory and you're telling me there is little inventory?

In April, Mercedes had 0% financing for nearly everything. They also had $750 incentive if you finance with them. This is very rare with Mercedes. Now, forget it! That lasted about 1 or 2 months.

Thanks for the info. I’m almost in the market for a new car, but it would probably be a specific build. Not really sure if that would be any easier to negotiate or not.

Do you know if you custom order a new truck or car is that even possible right now and what do you think the turnaround time would be with all this virus stuff going around. Thanks i enjoy listening to all your information

Spot on! Upgraded from a half ton Ram to a three-quarter ton. The dealers came right out and said that they do not need to negotiate, at all. Unfortunately they are correct, as everything stands right now. Ended up settling for a lower trim level to save some coin; until the new Ram HD’s (eventually) come out, and the market is more favorable for buying. My advice is, if someone doesn’t absolutely have to buy a new car right now, don’t. Plan on paying sticker, or very close to sticker, for leftover inventory.

I’m currently in market for a new car. Thinking about Lexus RX 350 2020. In this market if I requested 15% off of msrp do you think they’ll accept it in your experience and point of view? I’m looking to finance
