I sacrificed a relationship with my entire family for 14 yrs just to be abused and manipulated the whole time. At least if the love was reciprocated and it was worth it then I would have seen something positive from it but suffering just to suffer and to isolate you from the world to continue abusing you, never again in my life. Don't sacrifice your family, friends, peace or life for someone that isn't even worth 1% of your time, love, energy or effort. Invest in yourself and love yourself consistently no matter what.

My narcisstic mother did this to me so often.Then the sadistic laughter when I cried and felt powerless and humiliated. I am 57 and it still hurts. Today when I try to explain she denies everything and says that I am the crazy one. I don't try anymore.

Resistance is futile. I was accepted into a professional program. The narc never let up the pressure. He followed me on campus, carried a knife, kept a gun and rope in his car, embarrassed me everywhere, told people I was an abusive mother, conspired with relatives, damaged my car engine, kept me awake all night, punched holes in walls, raped me, and finally attempted suicide. I gave up because his suicidal behaviour put him in a wheelchair. That happened before finishing the first academic term.

I guess he won.

I started to see his sadistic pleasure when my narc husband relate to me how and where he took his exes and have sex with them.

They are sadists. I used to love dogs, so much. I was always a dog person, but needless to say, with a narcissist husband, things happened to all our dogs. I eventually said I don't ever want another dog, because something happens to all of them. He shot and killed one puppy, it was a bigger puppy, like half grown, but he said it was jumping up on the kids. We were on a walk onetime, and he said, don't look in the garbage bag over there, someone killed our dog and put it in there. It was literally one dog after the next over the years. Anything I loved, he tried to take it away from me.

as its a spectrum..what comes first the sadism or the narcissism? are they both on the same spectrum or two different scales..that leads to two different ultimate outcomes... narcissism leads to psychopathy (oversimplified I amsure)
