In this video you'll discover the nootropics benefits of L-Glutamine. Including why we use L-Glutamine as a nootropic, recommended dosage, side effects and clinical research.

L-Glutamine is a conditionally essential amino acid. And main precursor for the production of the neurotransmitters glutamate and GABA in your brain.

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in your body. And is involved in many bodily functions. But glutamate is the most abundant amino acid in your brain. The balance of these two is critical for optimal brain function.

The precursor relationship between glutamine and glutamate/GABA is often referred to in scientific and research circles as the Gln/Gly(GABA) cycle. This cycle accounts for more than 80% of cerebral glucose consumption.

So when you’re using nootropics like Resveratrol or PQQ to boost mental energy, much of that energy is going towards maintaining this Gln/Gly(GABA) cycle. When this cycle breaks down, all kinds of nasty things happen. Including Reye’s Syndrome, epilepsy, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anxiety, depression, and alcohol addiction.

L-Glutamine also helps prevent brain aging. Studies have shown that traumatic brain injury, even the damage caused by just one concussion, disrupts this glutamine/glutamate cycle. Resulting in brain atrophy from abnormal glutamate levels.

When L-Glutamine levels are low you feel filled with dread, you’re constantly worried, you have racing thoughts, and you’re frequently late and disorganized.

Neurohackers who use L-Glutamine report improved quality of life, increased energy levels, reduced muscle aches, improved digestion and gut health, better quality of sleep, and less pain and fatigue. Cravings for sugar and alcohol decline. Improved performance during workouts and shorter recovery. And it's easier to lose weight.

As a nootropic, L-Glutamine can help improve alertness, concentration, focus, memory and mood.

I took l-glutamine for over a year bc I thought I had leaky gut. When my digestion got better I stopped it. It's been about a year since I took it, but I'm having a lot of the digestion problems again; mainly heartburn & bloating. I also seem to be unable to stop eating wrong foods!
I've been having brain fog, constant pain and an inability to get off my couch or make decisions.
I'm about to start l-glutamine again as I think I MUST need more than I get. I like most of the foods you listed, I just don't eat much bc of my digestion.
I never realized it could have such an impact on thinking, so want to thank you for this info. I've listened to you for YEARS, but rarely see you anymore on my feed.
I'll have to remember:

L-glutamine: so many good things for the brain and body. Max upper dosage is 50-60 grams per day. We just started on 3 to 4 scoops per day. Taking for weight issues, but now discovering so many good things from this humble amino acid.

Hello! I suffer from idiopathic chronic constipation, not related to eating habits, lack of hydration or exercise. After seeing 2 gastroenterologist and one colorectal surgeon with very little results. I decided to see a functional doctor. One of the supplements she recommended to take is l glutamine powder. I always do research on what I take and I read that l glutamine can cause constipation. In fact that is how I found your video. I see that you say is very rare but well I am now hesitant to take it.

What are your thoughts about someone already constipated taking this? Thanks

Hi David - the side effects you listed: sweating, flatulence, skin rash, vomiting etc unclear what would causes those? Is it too much L glutamine, imbalance of Glutamate and GABA? Too little Glutamate? Thanks again! Love your videos

Can L-Glutamine be taken when someone is on several medications? I’ve been trying to do some research on it for my dad, so far I can only find some of the side affects or when not to take it, but none of those include medication someone might be on

can I take this if I am on klonopin and still feeling anxious. I am taking a probiotic that has lactobacillus rhamnosus and if the L-glutamine converts glutamate then will this mess up my downregulated Gaba from the klonopin....my doctor is clueless about this and knows nothing about probiotic. Do you know which probiotic helps anxiety? Thank youl
