When people say that, they usually mean bodybuilding styles of lifting, which can absolutely be detrimental to your game. They don't mean general strength and conditioning, which every series basketball player should be doing anyway.

Tricep push down or Dips are good for your shots because it makes your triceps and forearms stronger. Not only will it increase your range, you now have the power to adjust your shot better, save strength instead of making imbalanced shots from having to spend a lot on shooting the ball.

There is truth to the idea that getting stronger ruins your shot. But to believe that getting stronger won’t and can’t benefit you as a hooper is ridiculous. There’s always going to be adjustments made in every aspect of sport, at all times. The top or most skilled players are simply able to make those adjustments.

My coach wanted people in the gym. If you are devoted to weights then you also need to make time for your shot because it will change your shot. This guy acts like nothing can be a problem. Ive met people that got big and lost the shot completely and they were great players

(My coach is my father and he just lets me find rhythm and when I keep that rhythm, I can score every shot) just an advice, lifting weights are pretty good it boosts your strength my father tells me to do it every morning😊

Do you know a single player in the NBA who isn’t insanely strong? No you don’t. Lifting is also how you jump higher, run faster, improve overall athleticism.

You need to lift in a way where you won’t become bulky. Look at NBA players. Their arms aren’t bulky but still most have big arms (big not bulky if that makes sense)

There are tons of training styles according to the goal.
In sports they train sport specific Lifts.
In the age of technology majority of people still uneducated

This is not a hot take I have been afraid to lift weights cuz my goal outside is really bent and it would mess up my shooting and that’s one of my better things but if you can weight and shoot like before the workouts and stuff it will help
