Zen 5+ could be like those General Mills cereal variants. "OOPS! All V-Cache!"

Zen 5 is being held back by the IO die

Zen 5 architecture screams for more memory bandwidth. May be even a quad channel memory controller for PCs?

The strangest thing is they didn't see this as an easy way to get a win with zen5 to start with

Zen 5 also launched on 4nm but was always planned for 3nm with an expected cutover to 3nm this month.

I don't know that a 5% uplift is worth a "refresh" like that, if it costs AMD practically nothing to implement, phasing out Zen 5 and just selling Zen 5+ in its place could be a good move.

Given tbe performance weve seen of Arrow Lake, i dont see AMD having much incentive to do an AM5+ run just to improve the IOD, when they can keep that in their back pocket for Zen6. And they damn well better improve the IOD for Zen6!

Frankly its time for them to solve rhe issues with the damn fabric being a bottlebeck. Even Zen4 would gain some significant performance if not bottlenecked by the fabric.

Zen 5 Gets a new IO Die, I'd buy a 9800X3D+ (whatever a refined version would be called) Instantly.

As has been said before, AMD intentionally doesn’t put v-cache in every CPU because the necessity of lowered clocks reduces non-gaming performance. And since an improved IO die indirectly addresses the same issue that v-cache does, I personally don’t think that they’d implement *both* improvements at the same time.

The infinity fabric itself in the substrate is also a bottleneck for latency and bandwith

Hopefully for Zen 6 they improve the interconnect similarly to what they did with RDNA 3, or maybe use silicon bridges.

They need to move the iod and ccd closer together, enable all IF lanes that are disabled, and increase the IF frequency.

I personally don't wish for that, instead let them focus more on Zen6 and with it use an updated IO die (with CUDIMM support?) to launch it on time in 2025.

And with AM6 & DDR6 maybe in 2027, we definitely need at least 4 extra PCIe lanes, preferably 8.

When did Mr beast gain so much weight 💀

If I'm not mistaken, AMD has glass substrates coming soon. Would they bother making a new IOD if they're gonna have to replace it again anyway?

AMD is firing on all Cylinders 🎉🎉🎉🎉 love it

I hope 9000 gets a refresh with the IO die. What if 9800x3d already has an IO die and hits 15%+ faster than 7800x3d?

Poor Intel

V-cache, binned for higher clocks, and allow for CU-DIMM at 10000+ MHz at a 2:1 ratio.

Zen 5 is being held back by Windows 11. Its scheduler is broken. Linux shows what the real performance should be

There are Amd processors called Amd 64 Core with 128 threads name epyc clocked at 1.8ghz?

After AMD witnessed Intel's flop with arrow lake, they could go with 4nm and same IO chip, and still achieve massive success. There's just no incentive for zen5+. New IO chip will come with zen6 imo.
