8 years with AM4, yet only 4-5 projected years for AM5? Thats still impressive yes. But a part of me really expected AM5 to last just as long or longer. They probably will keep extending it though who knows.

I gambled and bought an AM5 system 2 weeks ago.
No regrets upgrading from a 5600X (+RX6600) to a 7800X3D (with the same GPU)
It's like barely 60fps with tons of lows.

100-120fps, no stutters whatsoever and no lows.

This is amazing. I upgraded to AM4 after using 4th gen Intel i5 for nearly a decade. And I feel like I could upgrade to AM5 or just stick to AM4 for a few years without losing much. Since both platforms are still supported.

I hope they keep this up... There was a little bit of uncertainty with am4, so to see them not only keep am4 relevant past that, but to commit to extending am5 makes me very excited for them to keep this up in the future.

I'm glad they're releasing atleast two power efficient 65w 9000 AM5 CPUs I'm not big into overclocking and really enjoy raw cache performance and mid- range power efficient systems so that's great to see even for the X series.

I feel so glad i went with all amd for my workstation. They are very competitively priced and are upgradable. Also they have amazing Linux support and open-source their tech.

I’ve been a big opposition to this future proofing because the average consumer doesn’t upgrade for like 5-7 years. But at this point am5 WILL be MORE than seven years old. Great job on longevity amd!
