Carbs don’t make you fat.

Only too many total calories does.

The anti-carb crowd loves to use their own personal anecdotes as ‘proof’ that carbs must be eliminated in order to lose fat...

Without stopping to realize that for every low carb success story there’s an equal and opposite success story of someone who got lean eating plenty of carbs.

What’s the common denominator between each group?

THEY WERE BOTH IN A CALORIE DEFICIT.

If you prefer eating low carb to achieve your deficit, that’s fine.

If it gives you better appetite control, mood, energy, or whatever else, then of course go for it.

But that’s not true for everyone, or even for most people.

I personally almost never cut on less than 200 grams of carbs per day, and I objectively feel and perform worse when I go lower.

If carbs need to be significantly reduced in order to get lean, then please explain how myself and millions of others manage to lose fat and keep it off just fine (including physique competitors, who are literally the most skilled people in the world at getting as lean as humanly possible) while still eating rice, oatmeal, potatoes, bread, fruit and whatever other high carb foods you can think of, including full blown high sugar treat foods here and there as well.

Of course if you’re in a deficit then your carbs will have to decrease by default, but that’s simply because carbs contain calories (just like every macronutrient) and not because carbs themselves are inherently fattening.

Regardless of what anyone tries to tell you, net energy balance (calories in vs. calories out) is still the underlying principle that governs overall fat loss/fat gain - not any one particular macronutrient or food group.

As long as you’re maintaining a calorie deficit over time, the specific macronutrient breakdown you use is a secondary factor and should be based on what YOU as an individual prefer and can most easily adhere to.

Idk why but just for me personally, being on low carb on a deficit for some reason has really enhanced my vascularity, even if the caloric deficit is still in place, because excess carbs hold onto water. Idk so thats prolly the only thing for me.

If you’re metabolically healthy it doesn’t much matter what you eat, just how much. If you aren’t then it matters more

Yes, personally substituting carbs for protein and fat makes me feel fuller for longer, that's the only reason it may be good to cut them. It makes the diet easier for me

Low carb is good for two reasons. One you cut out carbs and you automatically cut out 90% of the real crap. Fast food and heavily processed foods. Of course you can also just have the willpower to not eat that stuff. It also works for people who are really sedentary because fact is if you never work out do you really need that many carbs?

This is the one thing you need to study about ... Insulin and its effect on the body .. Crabs aren't the issue yes.. Too many calories are.. But different people get affected differently based on several factors .. Insulin being a big one

Never seen anyone downplaying insulin resistance harder than this guy. Going low-carb can be very benefitial for fat loss - chose what suits you the best and ignore these influencers.
