After I die, if I am buried, I will rot. If I am burnt or cremated, I will turn into ashes. But if my organs or parts of my body are donated, I will somehow live on, giving life and happiness to others in the process.

Most people immediately think of large organs like kidneys, heart, lungs etc... but I work for a hospital and you'd be astonished at how many tendons and cartilage we release for surgeries. It's not always about saving a life in a large way but so someone can have a better quality of life. 💞

Fun fact: In Norway, a heart was once transported by fighter jet (F16), to get to a recipient in time.

8:40 - I am a kidney recipient and was 14th on the chain. I know the gal who was the 1st one to donate, kicking off the chain.

I remember when I turned 18 and got my ID and chose to donate organs my mother asked why, I told her "If I die, I'm not going to need my organs"

One of my friends was the first living donor liver recipient in the US! Her mom donated part of her liver to her when she was a toddler!

I’ve heard too many horror stories of patients who were “brain dead” showing response to stimuli. Increased heart rate upon the initial incision. And the doctors don’t stop. It makes me so weary and I’m close to removing the donor emblem from my license. You can’t tell me these people don’t feel being cut open!

I’m O negative blood type which means I try to donate my blood as much as I can. I’d love for my organs to help save someone life someday

I have a bad heart. I live with an ICD, due to a virus from my work. It may eventually lead me to needing a heart transplant, however, I have type o- blood. therefore, whenever I can, I donate plasma, because I consider it my duty to help absolutely anyone I can with my plasma. I figure that, if ever I should need it, someone would do the same for me, so therefore, I should put out into the universe that same energy, right?
