I have some of the old standard crimp connectors on my boat and after watching this I think in the off season here I am going to switch to the solder. Thanks Double T

I too use the solder connectors and I also hand solder them with heat shrink sometimes also. Good video!

In aviation electrical we call those environmental splices. I believe the manuals only allow using these on the braided shielding of shielded wire. The actual conductors are spliced with Raychem zero ohm splices using Daniel's DMC crimpers. That's as good as it gets. If you don't mind paying a couple hundred bucks for that tool, it's the way to go.

At 60lbs of strength I wouldn’t be afraid of it, you’re not going to be doing chin ups with it.
Use your marine grade shrink tubbing over the connector for extra moisture protection. Go fish.
