I've had 360 controllers for ages and they never suffered from stick drift idk why all the modern controllers are having so much trouble with it

I've fixed my controller and has been working since the last 5 months by using a contact cleaner and swab on the potentiometer. Just spraying didn't do anything... basically removing all excessive graphite on the contact surfaces does the job real good

Hall effect sensors are much more reliable as they are not electromechanical. The likelihood of most people being able to retrofit a controller is also really low.

If you drop your controller and you have drift than its probably a damaged trace and the potentiometer needs to be changed. If you didn't drop it and you are sure xD than its dirt and you can clean it. Sometimes the dirt bends the balls inside the potentiometer and than you can clean and just change the little bal.

Tip is to clean the other sticks potentiometer with alcohol also when you repair or clean a stick because if 1 stick is drifting because of dirt than probably the other one is going to start soon. So this way no surprises or angry customers.

Before you're always cleaning and the wear and tear requires new sticks at some point, you can also swap the old sticks for electromagnetic ones. 2 cost 14€ for me in Germany.
You can do the same thing with the Xbox and even with the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, although those for Nintendo are very expensive.

This fix works only if dirt causes potentiometer to malfunction. If metal contacts have deformed the traces from use than you need to replace the potentiometer.

Not only that but also a worn out tension spring in the stick can also cause stick drift

I had never even heard of stick drift until it started happening to the Nintendo Switch. PS5 controllers are getting the drift, too?

Or for $13, you can get replacement wipers that will fix 5 controllers while you’re in there.
