Joystick drift- PS5 - Quick Fix - WD40Contact

Just to clarify in case anyone didn’t notice, this is not regular WD-40 that is being used in the video! This is WD-40 Specialist Electric Parts Cleaner and it contains Isopropyl Alcohol, it’s safe to use for cleaning electronics because it evaporates quickly, regular WD-40 will leave an oily residue and could possibly further damage your electronics!

No joke, I haven't been able to play on my PS5 games because I've had stick drift for a month now. I went back to check it and it still had stick drift. I saw this and was like, "Why don't I just blow some air in it with my mouth." It's fixed now.
P.S. I just want to let you all know that it's a temporary fix, you will have to fix it again every now and then.

i find it funny how as technology advances it gets better in some ways and worse in others its like they focus more on the graphics and components that go into the console and less about the gameplay of games and the controller

Guys just tried cleaning with the recommended Wd40 and I confirm it works perfectly fine now. Thanks for this hack, better than dismantling the entire controller to clean.

Edit: It only worked for 10 minutes. I had no choice but to make a warranty claim and send it off and go without a controller for 15 days. I even took it apart and cleaned it and it did absolutely nothing.

It actually worked but got scared a bit because it comes out a bit watery but I just wiped it away real fast with my fiber cloth.

A way to diagnose stick drift on your dual sense controller is to look at the model number, if the ending digit ends with 1 then it is known to stick drift if it ends with 1A it is not known to stick drift

this has been a big problem with all the new controllers i keep having to get am getting really fing pissed off a fing ps4 controller was better like wtf did they do to the dam controllers
they need to fix this problem right fing quick its bs like a brand new controller should not be drifting at all for a good fing year or 2 or more

I FIXED PS5 Pad, which had drifting on left analog stick.


CLEANING potentiometer didn't help.
The problem was faulty potentiometer with WORN out inner path.
NO NEED to resolder potentiometer.
Open potentiometer.
I took out the small white part that turns on potentiometer.


I used PENCIL to draw on worn out path on potentiometer.
Pencil has graphite that allows current to flow.
Now my PS5 PAD works.
