I've made it very clear to Mrs Toad that without loyalty, there is nothing left to salvage. Passion, attraction, even love can come and go in a relationship, but loyalty broken is broken forever.

Yep, the anger was the most intense anger I've ever felt in my life. And while I'm mostly past it 2 years later, it still bubbles up from time to time. That's what happens when the person you trusted and respected the most in the entire world betrays you and discards you. Sometimes I feel sorry for her, but I mostly just hate her still.

You are right, dude; me too, I tried to save my family and my marriage. And I thought for many years (15!) that I had been weak for not throwing her cheating ass in the street instead. But A) my son tanked me later for sticking up for the family, even if it was ultimately useless; it allowed him to grow more mature, from 7 to 9 yo, and to cope more easily with the destruction of his family, and B) my therapist convinced me that this thinking was ridiculous: by behaving honourably and responsibly, I protected my children who became balanced and outstanding adults. This is an achievement and I am proud of it.

But what happens when you take her back... and she repeats it multiple times?
