Hi all,
This is a first for me! Filming a tutorial video where I was being taught what to do!
In this video @FishoDavo (a master at SPJ) takes me out on his beautiful FC560 along with Joel_Gonefishing (IG) to teach me the "art of falling" aka slow pitch jigging.
In this video we really break down the basics of slow pitch jigging from attaching the solid ring, to jigging techniques and all the way through to catching fish! I hope you all enjoy.

gear used:
I'm using an Ocean's Legacy (OL) Origin slow pitch rod with a Poseidon 140R mini Slow Pitch reel

Fishodavo is using the same rod and he's got the Saltiga IC-300

Joel used the shimano Ocea Jigger on an OL Elementus (from memory)

all of use are using Ocean's Legacy slow pitch jigs

Time stamps below:
00:00 Intro
00:04 Step 1: Tying on your solid ring
01:00 Step 2: Attaching the assist hooks
01:47 Step 3: Picking which slow pitch jig to use
03:00 Step 4: Using the correct fishing rod
04:00 Step 5: Attaching the jig to the rod
04:40 Step 6: Set your drag correctly
05:00 Step 7: Holding the rod
05:48 Step 8: Slow pitching Techniques
08:12 Step 9: Catching fish!
09:38 Step 10: Enjoy & Share SPJ with others!

Another good vid. I've got heaps of Glowbite jigs, but been too busy soft baiting on the kayak to try something new. Will have to give it a go and put up a vid.

Hey man great watch, i love how you made everything so easy to understand. Ive been looking to get into SPJ and was wondering if you didn't have one of those electric motors or sea anchors could you still use the jigs effectively? When the boat drifts and the line is at a bad angle what do you do? Thanks

I'm guessing you don't have to use swivel for this am I right? seem the setup shown here 4:45 you used a lot of split ring + (pear shaped ring) and just tied directly?

Just a quick question, at 2:31 you said to use 90-100 g for 30 meters of depth. Why this choice? Is it because you have high drift ? In the United Arab Emirates, we usually use 1 g per 1 meter of depth, so for 30 meters, that will be a 30g jig. Only when the current is strong i double it and i rarely used more that 60g jig. In the 100 meters depth we use 120-150g

Nice video.
I just started to SPJ with basic equipments.
I generally using 80 - 200 grams jigs and depth is 50 - 100 meters.
The current is changing but generally strong.
What is OL Origin and Element strenght.
What strenght are you suggesting acording my infos.
By the way I am fishing on the kayak.
Thanks for the video.

Hi Dave, great video! Thom here from the UK. Got a strange question for you!
If you look on YT analytics of this video, can you see what % of viewers are from different countries? Eg 40% NZ? 5% France, 10% USA? Etc
I only ask as it’s a method starting to get popular in Europe and wanted to see which countries are most interested in your video.
Thanks in advance, Thom

Can someone tell me what that green plastic egg on the line. I've been slow pitching for over a year and I've never seen that.

Awesome video! Thanks bro. I’ve been wanting to try this but had no idea what I’m doing 😂 What is the minimum depth you try jigging in?
All the gear, no idea…that’s me 😂

Nice video. How deep do you generally recommend SPJing?

Is 20m a tad too shallow?

What size HPA split ring pliers do you use in this video? Thanks

Ok but why do all SPJ reels look the same with one giant handle on the crank like it's used for deep sea fishing and then it gets attached to a skinny little rod? Can someone breakdown the science behind SPJ reel design n why they r designed the way they are.
