Overcoming the fear of falling is actually the hardest part for me

As someone who can handstand quite well and has trained a couple people already, the tip with overcoming the fear is golden. Overcoming the fear will save begginers weeks or months of useless training. When you fear the position, you will literally gain zero balance troughout that period. You can overcome the fear in one session and get to the balancing.

Another tip from me: Fuck progressions, they are useless. Just go straight to the balancing the real thing.

Another tip from me 2: Try to imagine you want to grab the ground. Squeeze and try to dip your fingers into the ground. Also train only on hard and level surfaces, soft surfaces will halt your progress as a begginer.

Another tip from me 3: When you feel like you have a plateau, two things work for most people - take a break, 3 days will do the trick, or try paralets. On paralets, you have more strength balancing with your arms and can focus on the rest of the body.

Another tip from me 4: When you can do 10 seconds consistently, start incorporating shapes such as straddle or tuck and also try lowering into an L-sit on paralets.

Another tip from me 5, and take this one very SERIOUSLY: Warm up your wrist every single time, it will not only help you with balancing but if something is off, it will warn you before you jump into the position and injure yourself for months. I got injured for 3 months practicing my 1-arm handstand because I though I can skip warmups. Also, if you already feel injured or your wrists hurt, train on paralets, they take most of the weight off and will be a great training tool for those times when your wrists are sore. Wrist wraps can also work in a pinch.

TLDR: Get paralets, dont do progressions (waste of time), squeeze the ground, play with your body shape, WARM YOUR WRISTS UP YOU LAZY BASTARD!

Quick tip if you of afraid of falling, if you fall forward, just roll, if backwards u can easily land on your feet, sides is a cartwheel and if ur afraid to kick up just do it and try to fall on purpose to get the feel or do cartwheels but try to slow down once ur halfway up

you shouldn’t overrate ever. i like the yoga approach much better!
- train your flexibility to be able to get the legs spread apart
- train your core
- just do a very tiny hop with one leg and use strength to get up, not pure momentum

much safer, more useful, more elegant.
