How Marc reverses type 2 diabetes on a low carb diet

After living somewhat of a high-carb life and then living in France for a few years enjoying croissants and freshly baked baguettes, Marc was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. His nurse told him that it wouldn't be long until he would be put on insulin, not only Metformin. That was a real scare for him and he started googling for other ways to manage his disease. He found a low-carb keto diet and gave it a go.

A few months later, he met his nurse again and she was surprised by how well he was doing, she said the Metformin was really working. Little did she know he had stopped taking the Metformin three weeks earlier.

I've stopped putting doctors on pedestals since learning they can be quite wrong. I do my own research now.

As a home health nurse for 40 years, like a good nurse I taught my patients the ADA diet....and NO ONE GOT BETTER....1 year ago it was my turn to be sick as an emergently diagnosed with diabetic ketoacidosis....A1C of 10.9....4 days in ICU later I was discharged with a RX for insulin along with an appt toy PCP for 5 days later....I tried adsptingbto the ADA diet but i could not get my BG down to <140....that's when i started reading about intermittent fasting and low carb diet and I started my journey to wellness....Today 11 months later my A1C is normal @5.3...cholesterol down to 188 from 246, triglycerides down from 342 to 73....my CKD stage 3 markers are normal and my average BG runs 80-95 fasting and 110-120
1 hr post meal....I believe this constitutes a reversal of diabetes...oh I forgot one piece of the puzzle, I took myself off insulin....3 weeks ago....yahoo!!!!

Good for him! Have to say, beginning the day with carbs will have you hungry all day. Begin without them and you'll stay fuller longer.

Same results for me, except for the massive weight loss. Congratulations on yours. In 3 months eating low carb, un-medicated, I have lost 30 pounds, and my A1C has gone from 9.1, to 6.4. And for those saying “all that meat will put your cholesterol and triglycerides through the roof), I just had the first “normal” readings on both those tests in years. My triglycerides had been as high as 683, and were down to 135 on my recent blood work. Normal is anything under 150. My cholesterol was also normal. As a matter of fact all my blood work came back normal this time.

Doctor said the same thing to me…”That 1, 000 mg of metformin and that Jardiance has really helped your A1C.” I told them that when I started eating low carb, those medicines drove my sugar down below 40 a couple of nights in a row. So I cut the medicine completely, and hadn’t taken any at all for 70 days before this A1C. My sugar levels are still coming down. And I look to be under 6 on my next A1C which isn’t even the prediabetic level I am at now.

I was diagnosed with T2DM a month ago, and I was told that I can’t go too low in carbs or I’d still go into DKA. I was not started on any medication because I just knew I didn’t want to be on them for the rest of my life. So I’ve been doing a low card diet with occasionally adding more carbs, afraid of the DKA that might happen if I don’t have carbs…but I don’t understand why I’m told to keep adding carbs when thats what got me to this point

You can keep your sugar and insulin levels low with low carb, but you can also keep it low by taking vanadium and chromium everyday. I can eat carbs and my glucose stays low as long as I'm taking vanadium and chromium. I actually take a supplement named, kal blood sugar defense, which contains both of these trace minerals and other things to keep blood sugars down. T2 diabetes is caused by a deficiency in vanadium and chromium. In the early 1900's before they had insulin, doctors used to use these two minerals to treat T2 diabetes. Insulin is a billion dollar industry today, so you won't find any doctors recommending vanadium and chromium. They aren't trained in med school to treat anything unless big pharma can make a buck.

Awesome video! My view is many doctors either don't know, or they're in with the big pharma's for the money. My endo had me on the food pyramid and 180 carbs per day...just started keto 2 weeks ago with intermittent fasting after 3 days in the hospital with ketoacidosis. Feel great and insulin down from 75 to 20u per day. Can't wait to see my endo next week and show him my results so far...

The mindfulness book "30 Days to Overcome Sugar Addiction" by Harper Daniels is a good resource.
