I think they're just reusing animation resources. The art dept. probably just went, "We've got a perfectly good design in Ventress's saber - we'll never see her use it, so let's just give it to Maul." No canon explanation will be given.

Not to mention that mauls saber is probably gone now from clone wars. However with spare parts and killing an inquisitor he made his new saber in rebels and solo until it is cut in half like his first saber was cut in half in the phantom menace by Obi Wan Kenobi.

He used asaji Ventress yellow black market saber and combined them but not before bleeding the yellow crystal

I was shocked by this when I saw a still of the episode with a clear view of the saber. Why is no one else talking about this??? I think it's a big detail that's being missed by even the most detail-oriented of Star Wars Youtubers, besides you.

I don't think they should do Clone Wars season 8, but they should do a new show that fills in the gaps with stories like Crystal Crisis, Dark Disciple, and Son of Dathomir.

So mauls has basically 4 different sabers

His og one

The dark saber

The half og half Ventress one

And the rebels and solo one.

But technically he’s had 5 because of the og one being split in half it’s not technically a new weapon it’s just half of the og but still performs differently
