The infamous duel between the dark lord of the Sith and obi wan Kenobi left Maul dismembered and disposed off down a seemingly endless reactor shaft. To the surprise of many, Maul survived, however it was at the cost of his sanity. As he fell, Maul was filled with rage and hatred, strengthening his connection to the dark side more than ever before. After grabbing on to a vent, Maul fell in to a garbage container. However, the container began to shake uncontrollably as a ship picked it up, on transit to the junk planet of lotho minor. When arriving on the planets hellscape maul focused in on the dark side and his teachings, using it to fabricate himself a set of legs from pieces of junk. Remaining in the depths of the planet for over a decade, Maul was completely over come by the dark side, his lust for revenge against obi wan Kenobi driving the dark lord to insanity.

I remember when Maul first came back in The Clone Wars. I was still a kid at the time but I was still freaking out. I love Darth Maul in the Phantom Menace because he looked cool and had a cool lightsaber. But as I got older, I began to like him for actual reasons, such as a great character and just being so badass

I used to watch clone wars when I was younger, and I still remember my shock when I saw the episode where you find out he’s alive. I went to school the next day, and told all of my friends about this (they had seen PM but not clone wars, or anything that would’ve had them figure it out themselves). They were amazed lmao. Great times.
