Please DON’T Buy an RTX 4080

Nvidia Just revealed their RTX 4090 and 4080 graphics cards, and while they are promising some of the largest increases in performance we've seen in a long time, especially when it comes to the 4080s, I really don’t think they’re worth buying.

Now the reason why I say that is because the RTX 4080 16GB costs an insane $1,200 and the 4080 12GB, which is really just a renamed 4070 costs $900.

If they hadn’t changed the name that would be nearly a 2x increase in price over the previous generation, and while they should offer a big increase in performance, it’s unlikely to be quite as good as Nvidia would have you believe.

So if your in the market for GPU I highly suggest picking up a used RTX 30 series card on eBay for a steep discount, because

Important note to keep in mind is that the fine print under those graphs by Nvidia mentioned a non native resolution using dlss and 'super resolution'. They were not off raw base performance.

Well 4000 series was going to fail no matter what considering most people bought their GPUs during the peak of Covid so why not try and overcharge.

I will probably buy a 4080 because I have still just a 1070 and want to upgrade to 4k gaming (hopefully with higher fps). But I will probably wait some time, so that I can see, how the prices will change over the time and to see some reviews and comparisons.

Let’s be real here, after the release hype buying is over none of those cards are going to sell for that much, there’s to much high performance cards from the previous generation the warrant spending that much money, and example of this would be the xfx swift model Rx 6900 xt, which is only $650 on Amazon right now.

I recently bought an RTX 30 series card and it had problems with the display output, I returned it within a week and the employee at the counter said even though 30 series cards are back in stock the quality has gone down significantly, due to Nvidia trying to pump out as many cards as possible.
