I use organic unsweetened applesauce as a sweetener. It would work with oatmeal. It comes in little individual size containers The regular store carry it. I use it in my salads as my salad dressing. I take it to a restaurant when I go out to eat cause many times I have salads. Some times in my salads I will use garlic powder and some iodized salt. Raisins are another fun thing to put in oatmeal bowls. I use organic pitted dates in my smoothies to sweetened them. I have a large green smoothie every day. Leafy greens and cruciferous veggies and flax or chia seeds for your omega 3 and lots of water. Helps you heal from everything and get off all meds. I follow two famous healing doctors Dr Brooke Goldner and Dr Mark Fuhrman Worth looking them up. Best wishes!

I wonder what his opinion is on stevia, monk fruit, or yacon syrup is.

Where did Dr. Greger get the idea that blackstrap molasses has most of the sugar removed? One tablespoon, 15 ml and 20 g, has 15 g sugar in it, so it's 75% sugar by mass.

Also, honey has been shown to have health benefits for many decades, and recently maple syrup has been shown to have health benefits too.

One non-caloric, naturally occurring sweetener that I have recently found to my liking (& doesn’t appear to cause any digestive distress like erythritol does) is allulose.

Thanks for the video! Didn’t Dr. Gregor say on a different occasion that erythritol was a healthy sweetener? Or has he changed his opinion, or am I misremembering? Thanks!

If I want to sweeten a drink I use the amino acid glycine. I think it tastes great.

In his analysis of sweetners he did not look at the studies of Whole Maple Syrup. Whole maple is very different from pure maple as confirmed by studies done at American University.

Does Dr. Gregor still recommend people eat honey? 🍯

He forgot to mention Yakon syrup, which he recommends in How Not to Diet. And how about goji powder?

Dates or date sugar ( 100% dates, and what kind of molasses? Can anyone help? 🧡

Yes yum! Dates are so flavorful and excellent in oatmeal. I'm sure they spike your blood sugar tho. But the higher the fiber, the lower the spike they say

I have been using stevia since 1988 and now I also use monk fruit.

Wild grapes and cinnamon. And onion. I get 3. I'll keep them even if Dr Greger is against.

Even though honey isn't vegan, I think I'd still consider it healthy. No? Other than the fact that bees were abused to obtain it, is there anything particularly bad about honey?

I am starting to feel that all natural Suger are health but if you eat a Suger high fat diet then that would be a issue.

What about low glycemic palm sugar and Luo Han guo sugar?

Nothing comes even remotely comes to allulose. In fact it's beneficial for you beyond just not being harmful.

The irony of it…is I eat/drink more sugar than I ever have in my life…and I’m also the skinniest I’ve ever been. Calories in….calories out. But I don’t watch my calories anymore. I did when I was fat. And I believe I was fat mostly because of the crazy Ssris and other psychiatric drugs (minus the adderall). I went off all of it 12 years ago. I also found I was the most depressed I ever was…on those drugs. And yes…I tried many different ones. Anyway….to make a long story long….I eat more sugar than ever and am absolutely skinny…size 4. Sugar is bad for you…don’t get me wrong. But the truth is( as long as you aren’t on crazy medicine)…if you burn more calories than you eat…you lose weight. You get it. High fat for losing weight Is the best…you stay full longer.
