I have bought several cars in the last 6 years, I email dealers and ask for the best out the door price printed out. It really works, no phone calls, not spending hours at a dealership. You walk in with the printout and buy the car. if there is any deviation in price you lay the paperwork down and say this is the deal.

I did most of what you suggested in the video (labor day, end of the month, several dealerships, trade-in and OTD price etc.) and finally locked down what I thought was a deal on the model (but not the color) I was interested in. But before pulling the trigger I walked across the street and asked my neighbor who had just retired as general manger from a local dealership and showed her the deal. After looking it over she said we could do better and was she right. We started the whole process over and thanks to her, over 4 years I'm going to save $4, 600...

Thank you so much! You have no idea how helpful this is because haggling is intimidating when so much money is on the line!

How about this one Dave? When buying a newer USED VEHICLE, ask the dealership to have their mechanic RUN THE VEHICLE'S ELECTIRCAL CODES IN FRONT OF YOU. If they are not willing to do that, then walk away. I never heard this method mentioned for prospective used car buyers (at dealerships of course) to do or ask of the salesman. WHAT SAY YOU DAVE?
I would go as far to say if they come up with ANY excuses not to have one of their service shop mechanics run the code check, then a person should walk. Also (for added effect if they claim their mechanics are busy), then if it's a car a used buyer might be super interested in, tell them your willing to pay a few dollars just to have their mechanic run the codes in front of you. Of course I still feel it is a bit of a red flag if they are reluctant or want to charge to have one of their mechanics run the coeds on the vehicle.
Interested to hear your thoughts on doing this practice when thinking of maybe buying a newer used vehicle at the dealerships. Thanks.

Doing lots of research on this. Didn't know about the end of the month, but does make sense, heard this years ago, just like to order a new car or truck on a Wednesday from the factory. Mon and Tues they don't want to think about work, Wednesday they will not think about yesterday and the coming up weekend, on Thursday they will for sure think about the weekend, and Friday they do not care, so forget about them doing a good job on building your car or truck that day.

I’ve been selling cars for a few years now, every salesman/dealership is different. Each one has their own style, and own way of making money. The car sales industry is stereotyped as a crooked, grimy, dirty, greedy industry, and no car salesman can be trusted, “We just want your money.” WE ARE NOT ALL LIKE THAT. My job is to help you get in the vehicle YOU want, and the vehicle YOU feel would suit you and your needs best! And at a price you’re satisfied with. I could not care any less about what you buy, because regardless of what you buy from me, I’m getting paid regardless. And my customer leaves the lot happy, feeling like a kid with a new toy on Christmas! No matter what they’re in. And WE DONT CARE if you have a trade in or not, we’re in the SELLING CAR business! If you trade something in, that’s just more of a headache for us anyway. It’s more WORK lol. And If you go to a dealership, look at the sales price, and think that’s your out the door price, don’t blame it on us! “WhEn We GoT bAcK tO fInAnCe It WaS mUcH hIgHeR” 🤪 Its called STATE TAXES AND FEES. There’s no way around that, at any dealership you go to. It’s just the name of the game. Anybody that doesn’t know that probably shouldn’t be buying a car. When you’re car shopping, be open minded with your salesman. Don’t assume he just wants your money, because most of us really just want to help you. Why do you think we chose to interact with people for a living even though we’re not guaranteed a check? Assume your salesman is there to help you, because he is! Assume he is until he gets too pushy or overbearing, and too insisting. Those are red flags! If he’s not in it to spread joy, he’s in it for the wrong reasons. 👌🏻

We spent 4 hours at a stealership negotiating a particular car 2 years ago. We asked forTOTAL price. TOTAL.The salesman provided the price and we verbally agreed. Finalizing the paperwork the total price was significantly higher. We walked. He was taken back. Followed us outside wanting to know why. We never told him-just left. Didn't owe him an explanation. We decided at that point that buying any vehicle from this source isn't worth it. Instead we found a nice used vehicle from a private owner for a very reasonable price. "F" the Stealerships and their bullshit.

I like the "well fed" advice, good one. Cuz sometimes you can be there for a while.

I will spend. Alot of time selecting the vehicle I want but when I get to the dales cubical I tell the salesman to give me the best drive off price up front. He gets one shot to give me the price I want. I refuse to sit in the cubical for hours.

Never ever haggle it’s a waste of time. Soon as they give you a bad price just say No thank you and walk out

Great video, but your website is sleezy. I just wanted to browse cars in my area. Instead, I have salesmen in my area texting and emailing me. Not cool.

What is your opinion about auto brokers or auto buying services through a credit union?

Have you been to a dealership in the last 3 months? There’s usually no salesmen or maybe one. They got pissed when I wouldn’t give them my license. Told them I have driven them at other dealerships. They just wanted to run my credit. Seem to get more attention/ respect the farther away from home I am. Also the bigger the dealership the worst you are treated!

Should cover buying a vehicle you intend to order also, not just one off the lot.

In your research tool on your dedicated website, for the Make entry pull-down, you left off an obscure brand ... it's called FORD. Explanation?
