Something I've been practicing when interacting with anyone is to approach each interaction with a small sense of excitement. In other words, rather than being lazy about the interaction, I present some enthusiasm. It really helps with opening up a free-flowing conversation rather than having a very drab interaction. People are generally more interested in carrying on a conversation if you seem genuinely interested in talking to them.

The thing is, even if you master these really well, people will still feel it when it's fake. That's how you end up with the "wrong" friends. When you really feel friendly towards someone, the body spontaneously opens up. No need to act.
