In this video, we’re going to talk about intermittent fasting and a fatty liver. Can intermittent fasting reverse fatty liver?

Fasting is one of the most important things you can do if you have a fatty liver.

One way to know if you have a fatty liver is to simply look down at your stomach. If your stomach bulges out, chances are you have a fatty liver. You can also get a biopsy or an ultrasound to be sure.

When the liver becomes filled with fat, it spills off into areas around and inside the organs. This is why people start developing a gut.

What causes fatty liver?

• Sugar or refined carbohydrates

When you consume glucose, your whole body can deal with it. But, when you consume fructose, the liver is stuck dealing with it. Indirectly your insulin will spike, and other problems with occur. The effects of fructose on the liver are very similar to the effects of alcohol on the liver.

A few sources of fructose you might not have thought of:

• High fructose corn syrup
• Fruit juice
• Agave

The best way to handle a fatty liver is to reverse the flow. You have to fast. You want to work up to about 20 hours of fasting—23 hours would be even better. Don’t eat unless you’re hungry and go for as long as you can.

A few more things to help speed up the process:

• Take choline (and B vitamins in the form of nutritional yeast)
• Exercise
• Bile salts

I was so swollen under my ribs a few months ago. Diagnosed, fatty liver disease. I jumped into keto and fasting, as well as daily exercise. I've lost 60 lbs, I can see my ribs. My body still works! The feeling is indescribable, it's exhilarating to have functioning organs.

So you read my email to you (the one I’ve never sent) and decided to post a whole awesome video in response to it. I know a lot of us feel that way every time you upload a new video, but this time, seriously, you were looking at me and talking to me and responding to my questions and my concerns. How do you even do that??? Thank you, Dr. Berg.

It always comes down to 3 main things: 1. Eat a healthy Keto diet. 2. Practice Intermittent fasting. 3. Exercise

I was diagnosed with a Severe Fatty Liver back in September of 2018. I was 321lbs. I had a 60” waist. I was eating primarily vegetarian, thinking it was healthy. I had OJ, a banana, an orange, oatmeal, tea with honey for breakfast - thinking this was HEALTHY. I nearly was put on a Liver Transplant List. My Dr had caught it right before Cirrhosis set in. I do have some Fibrosis. I have since gone Keto with IF. I have since lost 115lbs. My waist is now 38” - I’ve lost 22” on my waist. I sleep better - no more 10-12 hour nights of sleep. I have tons of energy. But, the best part is that I saved my liver, and my life. I was not hungry once Ketosis set in. I didn’t workout - I would just take my dog for short walks. That was it. IMHO Losing weight is 90% diet.

I'm so worried about my husband. He is a 53 yr old man, who is 6' 3" and 280 pounds. He has a larger frame, but he is still considered obese. His belly is where he holds all his weight. Yet he doesn't think he needs to lose a lot of weight and I can't get him to take his weight and health seriously. I share your videos hoping this will help.

Not because I was crying crying but because my organs started functioning properly and my dry eyes were flushing out and my vision is dang near in HD - You mean to tell me that all those TV commercials and unhealthy food choices being promoted to the country are really killing us slowly- not one STEVIA commercial have I ever seen ever 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

I have followed Dr. Berg for 8 months. I lost 120 pounds without affecting my lean mass. No skin issues or complexities. I did MRI, ultrasound, blood tests and all show that I reversed my advanced fatty liver in only 4 months. Lost 14 inches from my gut. I am perfectly healthy. Now I just have to shred. 🇲🇹 thanks

Thanks Dr Berg for explaining why the belly fat does not go away immediately. It has to be gone from the liver first. Love all the videos! Keep educating us.

It took me about 11 months to get rid of my NAFLD. I did IF 16:8, 2MAD. I eliminated all processed foods, and drinks. The icing on the cake was I also lose 30 lbs and 3 inches down on my waistline.

June 2018 ultrasound showed an enlarged and fatty liver. (Don’t drink at all)
Aug 2018 started keto and omad, daily choline & nutritional yeast. Aug-april lost 100 lbs
Follow up ultrasound this Oct showed a NORMAL liver. 😮😃👏🏻

Dr Berg & Healthy Keto/omad healed my liver,
and adrenals. (Had high cortisol & metanephrines, normal now)
Dr said all my bloodwork numbers across the board have improved.

Healthy keto works. 👍🏻

My fatty liver reversed in less than a year on healthy keto and IF. Thank you Dr. Berg. I don’t know why a baseline abdominal ultrasound is not standard. I complained of tenderness under the right rib and got one. People should know if they have a fatty liver sooner than later when it progresses to cirrhosis.
