A few years ago I learned with my yoga and dancing teachers to do massage with those dog rubber balls that have little soft spikes in them. You just roll them on your muscles to massage them. Sometimes we wouldn’t even do yoga before or after dancing class to stretch, we would just roll the balls and have no soreness after practice. What are you guy’s thoughts on that?

DOMS is annoying but harmless. It's not like tearing a muscle or a tendon. It's a sign you put adequate overload on the muscle and that's how they grow back stronger. Don't use it as an excuse to be lazy. If you're lifting weights, rotate your muscle groups. If your legs are sore then work on your chest the next day. If your chest is sore, then work on your back. Etc. My legs were sore today so I worked on my shoulders without issue.
There's really no scientifically proven thing to get rid of it other than the passage of time. I've noticed moderate cardio speeds up my recovery time but mileage may vary. I suspect hydration helps but can't prove it.

My accupunturist helps loads by doing myofacial release and support. Jones strain counter strain. Hydrate. Sleep. Acupressure with seeds on the eat and needle sets. Also she has had me do lotion with chelated magnesium and MSM. This is new and awesome and one of them has melatonin in it to help me sleep
My PT does release/massage befor I do arm bike and bands and then stretch with a long peice of pipe vertically for my shoulder. I also swim and that helps

Please respond to this post ASAP. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Degenerative Arthritis of the spine. Now I have server muscle spasms of the l Low Back. This has been going on for 2 months. I have tried moist heat, I cannot stand a massage at least not right now. First let me say this I used to work in the Physical Therapy Department at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, North Carolina for about 6 or 7 years. I learned quite a bit while working in that field for a while. Any how back to my muscle spasms. The only thing that I have not tried is ICE therapy. When our ICE machine quite working 4 years ago we never had it fixed. So that is the only reason I have not used It. Other than that can you offer any thing else? I don't have access to a Whirlpool. I wish I did. However I did buy a T. E.N.S UNIT and this worked but you all know that is temporary but overall this TENS Unit has worked. Do you have anything else to offer? I do think you and Bob are great and very informative. Beings back a lot of memories for me.
