1 way we can create more emotion in our lyrics is how we structure them means howvwe say something is more imp then what we say, so what we are saying something is the lyric themselves, how we're saying it is the lyrical structure
(Songwriting is all about emotions, we write from an emotional place & connect with the listener on sn emotional level & structure is a way we can communicate emotion, so the audience feel it too)
2:Basic element of structure that can help us to cause emotion
(Rhyme type, Rhyme scheme, Line length, Amount of lines in a section)
3:First get clear about the emotions that you want to communicate by putting them into 2 basic categories (positive | negative) positive will include anything upbeat & positive like happiness or confidence, but when it comes to structure it would also include neg statement made with certainty & neg will include longing, sadness or anger but also positive statements, questions made with uncertainty like never mind I'll find someone like you
(It really depends on how balanced or unbalanced the emotion or message of your song is to begin with but play around with these four elements & see what difference it makes to the feeling of your lyrics & you can mix & match until it feels right)

I love the way Tony takes a tool like balance and shows you how to apply it with his examples. Fantastic lesson! As a side note Tony, it seems like Song Analysis is a fantastic habit for the songwriter as we can learn so much from other peoples music. Would love to know if you have a template for your Analysis? Rhythm is one of the first things I analyse in other songs, and Ive recently become proficient in transcribing Rhythms. Its a game changer!

The problem I have writing is lyrics that are cheesy sounding which people like Taylor Swift get away with. I am talking about rhyming words like go with know and basic stuff like that. One of the reasons why I love Mariah Carey’s style of writing is because it rhymes without being forceful and corny.
