Have you quit a job without having another job, or had a stealth search to escape a job that made you miserable?

I think a big problem people have is this "Winners never quit" mentality. The truth is that belief is completely STUPID!! A better 'motto' is "Winners know WHEN to quit". You have to take charge of your job, NOT let the job take charge of you.

Just left a job last Friday where the environment was extremely toxic and it had major effects on my health and well being. I feel so much better since I left.

My final straw was when I had a quick but powerful hallucination of me hitting my boss with my car. That's when I up and quit. never hated a job so much in my life.

I’m still so amazed employers aren’t doing more to improve work conditions and retain staff. Makes me sad.😢

I quit my job a month ago. I dropped my keys on the desk of my horrifyingly toxic boss and told him goodbye. He was furious that I had deprived him of the chance to fire me. My mental health has vastly improved.

Quitting without another job is a particular sign of toxic workplace. I turned down an outreach from a corporate recruiter because I felt this red flag. I looked at their former employees' LinkedIn profiles and some of them left the company without another job.

I was fired yesterday but I was so happy to leave. I was really miserable there and I was crying more then I was laughing.

If you're working for a company that has immediately fired employees as soon as they give their two weeks notice of resignation, just resign without giving them any advance notice. They don't deserve any. Just quit and walk out.

Yes I quit my job as an RN last two years ago after almost 18 years in the field. It was not an easy decision, but life is too short to dread going to work everyday. No amount of money can buy real happiness, but friends I'm not asking you to resign from your job or abandon your business but be wise!

Bonus Sign: You are given a PIP (Performance Improvement Plan), especially without any prior warning about your job performance. Any decent boss would tell you about what is lacking about your job performance BEFORE giving you a PIP.

I had been in a toxic work environment for the past 4 years and was so desperate to leave that I was applying to anything and everything. I was a finalist for a few but felt that my desperation impacted my performance. I'm happy and fortunate to say that since then I've been successful at securing a new position and approached it much differently than the previous interviews. I 1000% agree that you shouldn't desperately try to apply for any position because you could walk yourself right into another toxic situation. Be strategic! Good luck!

Just left yesterday.
My boss was neurotic and ocd and racist and micromanaging and a straight dummy gangster.
The environment was changing me into a horrible person.
Thank Jesus Christ I'm out. 🙌🌈

Worked at as a bilingual rep at a call center, left after 3 years of being refused advancement and three people I trained were promoted within 6 months of employment. When I got an email that I got a new job, I wrote my resignation letter in a paper plate, turned in my keys and left in the middle of a call with someone on hold.

It's been 3 weeks off work I've lost 15 lbs and my blood pressure has dropped 30 pts to normal.
It's worth it not to have a heart attack to further other people's or your boss's career.

After 26 years in the field of education, I finally walked away one month ago. Best decision I ever made. Goodbye stress!!!

I quit my job after years of bullying which eventually turned into the worst mobbing. It was open abuse and HR and management was in on it. I was one of only a few African Americans. I was calling the Suicide hotline five to eight times a day. No job is worth that amount of stress, so I just quit in the middle of the day.
