5 Signs Of a Burnout At Work (Signs You Are Burnt Out) and what to do about burnout. Emotional and physical burnout is a negative state of mind and mental health which manifests itself with most common physical symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, headaches, dizziness, frequent illnesses etc... Workplace burnout has already been recognized as a legitimate medical syndrome, occurring from excessive and prolonged levels of unmanaged stress. Burnout is what happens when you avoid being a human being for too long.

What can we do about burnout? What recovery strategies are there? Some would typically recommend taking time off work, but I think this isn’t a solution, because you’ll eventually come back. You are still the same person at the same job! So instead of just temporarily removing yourself from this situation, you need to actively work on changing it.

Some of my other videos which you should check out:

Identify burnout by the signs provided in the video and use the strategies on working on and improving your mental health, find ways to relax and release stress. From learning breathing exercises, trying yoga and meditation, to discovering a hobby or a passion outside of work which works as a therapy for you. Which might bring you joy and fulfilment.

I use to be a person that would almost never call in sick. Now, I don’t hesitate to use my sick time.

That lack of enthusiasm for things you used to enjoy is a sign not to be ignored! I dealt w/ this recently n I knew when I could not pick up my crochet hook (something I usually do to relax)without feeling stressed it was time to make some changes. I also started getting migraines n insomnia n knew this was not good. I spoke with my dr. and he told me to take care of myself. So I changed jobs n am enjoying life again!☺

Its easy to fall into being burned out, tired and exhausted if the job isn't any good and if you have a bad manager.

Sadly burnout is a slow situation and it sneaks up on you. All the symptoms I had, bad sleep and stomach issues mainly. Now moving onto a new position. Feels so good to have hope again.

Staying at work and just changing your work patterns is a whimsical fantasy. Supervisors / admin won’t get off your back or lower their expectations.

I have a friend who was burned out and who then fell into a long depression. It took him 3 years to get better

I have two other coworkers and despite this, I have working by myself 5 days a week since the pandemic while they work from home. This has caused burnout for me and I am now seeking other opportunities before it gets too overwhelming.

I think i have been burned out once, not sure if it was a burnout or a depressed. It all felt like a blur for about a year; I was low and demotivated, but I moved to another city and life started picking up

I feel like that alot, i have trouble sleeping because im anxious about my workload the next day, i have a really shitty ”route” compared to my collegues, weve had 3 guys on my route that quit these past 3 years. And i thought i would be able to manage it since my work moral is pretty high but im feeling almost non human at this point i dont care about anyone or anything and im not like this and Ive never been like this. Ive lost appetite, sleep i have no energy to do anything at all im just sitting eating sleeping. I have bumps on my neck and Pain in my left shoulder all the way down to my ankle. I thought it all came from the Pain first so i went to a chiro, he told me i should go urgently to the hospital and get checked. Just writing this is exhausting its insane and im 29 years Old

Yep, all those things happened to me as a community RN. One day I just couldn’t function anymore. There’s just only so much abuse you take especially from you supervisors let alone the patients and families.
