Fallout 4 | Working Performance Fix For Fps Drops

I will show You a specific setting that You need to change to fix framerate drops in specific areas in Fallout 4, like Corvega Plant (near Lexington), to get a smooth and stable gameplay performance.

Look for the [Display] section and change values of:
fDirShadowDistance
fShadowDistance

For me the ideal value was 8000, but it may be different for You, depending on Your hardware.

I have a freaking RTX 3070, which is like 50x the minimum requirements to run this game, and it gives me dips of up to 30fps certain areas where some trees and on-screen details abound. I play it at 1440p, Ultra and almost 100 mods, but still, it's ridiculous....

Dude, searched this up because some fool thinks fallout 4 ran well at launch. I vividly remember my 1060 6gb pc stuttering all over the place and had frequent fps drops despite being way above the recommended requirements.

Gtx 1070 drops to 50 fps in some areas.... hahaha pathetic -.- I spent 2000$ on my PC an still I have to experience frame drops on a game that I should be able to run on 4k without frame drops. AC Unity was more stable than this...

Actually first fix video for me which actually worked thx for that, i got i5 6500 and gtx 1070 and was really confused when frames dropped down to 40-50 in diamond city.

Sorry but how de fuck is shadow distance a FIX. My whole pc is working 50% of what it can do max, and STILL fps drops to total shit.

Just play Fallout 1. You get 400% better performance and is an overall better RPG experience.

I have an rx 5700 xt and i5 9600k and on skme areas the game drops constantly, especially with enemies on the screen, in automatron dlc in the last fight the game felt like it was running in 5 fps

can't believe it's 2020 and im running a 2070 super and the patch still hasnt come out.... can't keep a consistent 60 fps to this day

My 1050 goes from 55 fps to 34 in diamond city
