I explained this badly in the video, so here's the SPECIAL book Guide: You can indeed raise your attributes over 10 with the SPECIAL book, but you must first reduce your attribute to make it available as an option. For example if you wanted 11 intelligence: you would first get a 10 in intelligence, then you would drink whiskey to temporarily reduce your intelligence by -1, you would then use the SPECIAL book so you can raise your intelligence by +1. Once the whiskey effects wear off you will now have 11 intelligence. If you now get the intelligence bobblehead you can reach 12 intelligence. Some stats can be pushed even higher but I could do a whole separate video about that.

Whenever I'm on a power armor, I take note when a fusion core is about to deplete and remove it when it's 1% left. I can trade/sell those 1% cores at full price.

Bro is so careful not spoiling the story of a 9-year-old game. what a gentleman.

Got one more tip to add when your fusion cores are about to run out replace them as you can still get a good price for them even with 1% charge left but if u don’t it will automatically replace it

Walton Goggins is the best character in my opinion.

"Thou shall get side-tracked by bullshit every god damn time"

That was such a relatable line for anyone who has played the games.

For survival, remember to grab all the cola/beer/milk bottles in Sanctuary, you can haul back to vault 111 and fill them all in the sink. That's a pretty easy and reliable way to get purified water, both for consumption and selling to vendors.
And if you get advanced lockpicking in the earliest levels, you get access to a bunch of the safes in both Sanctuary and Concord, as well as a locked room in the Speakeasy with a steamer trunk, ammo and potentially a shotgun.

Absolutely invaluable tutorial. I'm a level 25, and there's so much I'd missed around Sanctuary that I'm now going to do, plus loads of tips that I wish I knew sooner 😂

Keep all pre-war money, cigar boxes and cigarette boxes on you for bartering. They can be easily found off of Ghouls or in most places that have cigarette dispensers. Most raider settlements will have a lot laying around. They are a good alternative for those who are lacking the caps. Pre-war money doesn't have any weight so you can carry as much of it on you as you want. All of them are under the Junk tab so make sure you collect them from your settlements in case you stored them accidentally.

Alternative for using the Sentry: Easy early access to locations, powerful weapons: NE from Sanctuary at the Robotics Disposal eject sentry bot software, run with your pipboy, activate sentry then set defensive protocol to South Boston Checkpoint and follow.
He goes to Tenpines Bluff, Cambridge (at Red Rocket Gas Station quickly grab sniper rifle from the roof), goes to Covenant, smacks through Boston... for me it disappeared near Diamond City at the bridge just after the Polymer Labs (easy mission inside lszer giving superb Power Armour chest piece). You can just walk in from that bridge to DC.
Covenant has easy mission later too to missing caravan near with combat rifle.
If you ever make it SE from Diamond City at the S B Military Checkpoint there's a sniper gun on the roof and a power armour (hack rank2 needed). If the Sentry is there self destuct, plan B Kill it just before he disappears at the bridge with boat leading to Diamond City (had 30% hp but don't need to combat kill it, just self destruct him)

I haven't played the game since it came out back in the day, but I made it way too easy for myself. Somehow I got lucky while crafting and upgrading my weapons and got the "Explosive Ammo" perk on a machine gun, which turned it into a rapid fire grenade launcher that would just shred anything I pointed it at, even the biggest, baddest enemies.
The only problem was that I sometimes blew myself up when using it in small rooms.

Maximus is definitely using the Idiot Savant perk and I love it.

I've played about 4000 hours of FO4, it's probably my favourite game, just wandering around doing stuff, trying new builds, building settlements etc, and I still learned about 5 or more things from this video I didn't know about. It's the map that keeps on giving!

My *_TOP TIPS_* (especially _Survival Mode_ )——->
—-> _Codsworth_ is available as a companion without first needing to free *Preston* . Simply enter _Concord_ far enough that Preston and the Raiders start fighting, return to Sanctuary, and he can be hired. Taking him along to free *Preston* can give some _affinity boosts_ . _Codsworth_ will give you a Purified Water on a continual basis just by talking with him, making him a solid companion for _Survival Players_ .
—-> *_Need Caps?_* Stop at nearby *Abernathy Farm*, under the Power Pylon. Grab the 9 Melons, then speak with the daughter _Lucy_ . Keep picking the top dialogue choice about caps as currency. This will trigger an Easy speech check, and she will offer to buy Melons for 5 caps instead of 3. She can buy every Melon you have, on an ongoing basis, which can be lucrative if you turn Sanctuary into a Melon farm. However, if you make the Farm a settlement, she stops buying them.
—-> *_Survival Players_*, besides planting *Tato*, *Mutfruit* and *Corn* for _Adhesive_, plant *Razorgrain* . Cook *1 Razorgrain /1 Dirty Water* to make rad-free _Noodle Cups_ . They lower thirst one level, and hunger half a level. Check wandering vendor _Trashcan Carla_ and _Trudy at Drumlin Diner_, South of Concord. Or find randomly as loot.
—-> *_Weapon and Armor modifications_* can be _stripped and swapped_ onto your better gear. You can _remove armor mods_ for free, but you will have to _build a new gun mod_ from components. Even without Gun Nut, you can build the base level gun mod, which will put the previously attached modification into your inventory, and put onto your new hotness.
—-> _Survival Players_ should build *15 more water supply than they have settlers*, minimum. Take out the water from the Workshop *every day*, and store it separately in another container. New Purified Water will be added every day *_if_* there’s little to no water already in the workshop. If you build a large enough water purification operation, a huge amount can get added daily. Use this for your travels, or stockpile, and sell the surplus.
—-> _Survival Mode_ features *Diseases*, acquired numerous ways. You can take *Antibiotics*, visit a *Doctor*, or *wait* until they go away eventually. Each disease has _different durations_, lasting from *2-7 days* . The most debilitating are _Weakness_ (receive +20% damage), and _Infection_ (take damage over time, though it won’t kill you, will leave you with a sliver of health). These two diseases take *2.5 days* to go away. Find something safe to do, like decorating Sanctuary, or sleep it off. Sleeping causes a _disease check_, so you might get sick again, but anything is better than Weakness or Infection. *Early game*, when resources are tight, you might be better off saving Antibiotics just in case for the debilitating diseases, and living with the others until they go away.
—->Want to play _Survival Mode_, but aren’t sure what starting SPECIAL to use? I’ve found the first 10-12 levels to be the hardest, and it’s worth going for strong combat skills first, and then flesh out your build.
*Melee Builds*, get _Rooted_ (STR9) and _Blitz_ (AGI9) immediately. *9, 1, 4, 3, 1, 9, 1* _(Book END)_ .
*VATS Guns* get _Penetrator_ (PER9) and _Concentrated Fire_ (PER10). *1, 9, 3, 3, 3, 7, 2* _(Book AGI)_ . You’ll get the *Perception Bobblehead* when you free Preston, so have a point saved, and put into Concentrated Fire mid-rescue.
—-> _Survival Mode_ players should seriously consider not using Power Armor. _Swimming_ is Survival’s Fast Travel. You’ll get around much faster and safer. *_Aquaboy/girl perk_* will save you a ton of time! Without spoiling, the game gives you a quick means of crossing the map as you do the main story, if you dabble with the *Brotherhood of Steel* .
—-> _New Players_ : *Idiot Savant* isn’t a good choice for first timers. Enemies scale with you. You need to have good gear to survive, and easy and fast XP can leave you without enough time to explore and find good gear before the bad guys start hitting even harder. *You’ll get plenty of levels, faster than you think, even at 1 INT* . Growing powerful isn’t only a matter of levels. Having 1 INT will give you plenty of time to find what you need to survive. *You’ll be stronger if you have great gear when you pop your next level*. Take it easy, don’t rush, go slow, and you’ll be better for it.
—-> _Pass every speech check_ with *11 CHR*, 100%! Low CHR builds, don’t fret: assemble a 3-piece _CHR set of clothes_ . *Hat/glasses/suit*, for _+4_ . Most *Alcohol* adds _+1_ . Find *Daytripper* _+3_ . Better yet, craft *Grape Mentats* at a Chemistry Station _+5_ . There’s other ways, but with these, that’s a +13 buff already.

*Bonus!* Your companion will come to your side and stay there if you crouch.

On the cryolator part, the dog wasn’t spawning when I put on the vault 111 suit, but it did work when I put on a numberless vault suit. He spawned as the gate started opening.

The Dogmeat/Cryolator glitch has been patched, so the exploit no longer works. 😢
