InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he notes that the guided meditation linked to InPresence 0003 includes reference to the chakras. He reviews each of the chakras and shows how they relate to the Freudian, Adlerian, and Jungian systems of depth psychology.

This number seven is a key. Corresponding the 7 Chakras to the 7 stages in Arthur M. Young’s theory defining the V curve reveals interesting ideas.

Dear Dr. Mishlove, I appreciate your usage of the word "Vortex" for chakra.
Now it is making more sense to me, since it is adding the ability to imagine the possibility of complex vortex-like dynamisms.
All these, somehow, are in alignment with the structure of Torus.
Once, in one of his interviews, Arthur M. Young corresponded the Torus to the structure of a tornado which is a vortex itself.
With the use of the word you suggested (vortex), the possibility of visualizing the inner proprioceptive feelings has expanded. Thank you very much.

Jeffrey, you are a walking encyclopedia! When I have time, the Chakras deserve exploration. Thank you.

Nice presentation. I'd like to add a little with regards to the first chakra and our present approach to economics. In recent decades economists and mathematicians have used game theory to show that there are economic advantages to altruism, as long as it remains mutual. Perhaps it's a sign that our species, as a whole, is opening a door to a wider understanding of the benefits of balanced cooperation.

I was recently asked to give a teaching on the chakras at an advance yoga class. As a result, I started to review some of the literature I had in possession as well as some of the interviews Jeffrey did on the topic in recent years. This presentation is one such. I really appreciate Jeffrey's insight into how different bodies of psychological theory can be mapped onto different chakras. That resonates deeply with me, and I may draw on them in my presentation.

Thank you for this. I'd been intending to repeat your powerful guided meditation. Didn't recall where to find it! Root chakra also about basic survival & rootedness to the earth. Positive spin is always important too! 🙏🏻

How about this. Chakras only exist as manifestation of intention. Chakras are a tool of visualization in ones own mind, to realize the qualities of our existence as outlined by Jeffrey. Thanks for the InPresence series, great work..

I have seen some attempts to correlate autonomic plexes (plexices?)[function] with the chakra system. In addition to kundalini yoga, ayurvedic medicine sometimes refers to it, and I think vipassana meditation touches on it in a way. There are videos and videos on YT and books and books in the world relating to this topic; but as you say, experiencing it is most important.

Very much agreed Jeff thanks for the video, an experiential discovery. Portals into transcendent states.

While there may be some intriguing correspondences to theories found in Freudian, Adlerian and Jungian psychologies, one must be careful not to wholly superimpose these Western psychological theories, because it could result in misunderstandings and even unknowing reductionism. The Tantric Hindu chakra system, including the related system of energy currents (nadis) that encompass them and even extend throughout the entire subtle body, should first be studied together, as they are the actual map, based on experiences of Tantric yogis in practicing kundalini yoga. There are also intricate symbologies in each chakra that are essential to understand in relation to Tantric practices, philosophy and cosmology. Studying kundalini yoga in detail should precede any attempt at East-West correlations of the chakras. One of the best books I've seen on the Hindu chakras shows that there are even some variations in various Hindu scriptures: Shyam Sundar Goswami's Layayoga: The Definitive Guide to the Chakras and Kundalini (1999).

Not sure why I hadn't considered it prior, but I find the correlation, perhaps coincidence, between the number of chakras and the number of of spheres of the Spirit World interesting. For instance, the first sphere, lowest vibrationally, is closest to Earth, "most grounded" and the theme of the 7th sphere, celestial freedom, atonement, is akin to that of the 7th chakra. Now I wonder if the reported patterns/shapes of the chakras has any link to vibrational resonance patterns that can be viewed in a physical medium.... these do seem to get more complex as more energy/frequency is applied.
