InPresence 0114: Witchcraft

InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he describes his early years in Berkeley in which he developed many friends who practiced witchcraft and other occult and esoteric arts. In 1970, Professor Frank X. Barron, shared a story with him about a witch -- and encouraged him to study parapsychology. He discusses the tension between witchcraft and the Judeo-Christian culture with its various prohibitions. He also describes a major paradigm-shift in western culture with regard to witchcraft.

It’s a frightening state of affairs when those in power don’t possess the strength of character to wield that power, as we are currently witnessing in the United States.

In a manner of speaking, we are all witches. We form our reality from our thoughts and beliefs. Although, there are times when I throw incantations out while meditating, and I note how the thought manifested. I stopped doing love spells, however, they seem to really mess with people's minds. Not good magic.

A professor relayed a story to me about the dean of a department at Rutgers building a wall where there was an office and a door while the other professor was on vacation. He came home to a structurally demolished office. The case of the missing office.

Universities appear to be political and delicious to the power hungry.

Reminds me of the saying that goes something like The nail that stands up gets hammered down.

So, just saying that being invisible in groups of the power-hungry looks good to me.

It doesn't seem to matter what the belief system- intent is what powers psychokinesis and synchronicity. Those with true religious beliefs, no matter how insane to us, cultivate a self-perpetuating cycle of manifesting will into our physical environment. That will compounds through 'time'. Millions of idiots could move a mountain if they were convicted logically enough.. or even one I suspect.

There’s a huge difference between Wicca and witchcraft. Wicca is a religion and witchcraft isn’t a religion at all. Wiccans can practice witchcraft but they don’t always practice it. Witches can be Wiccan or atheist, or Jewish and Christian, etc. Golden Dawn is Left Hand Path and also not Wicca.

Too many people meld these things and there is a huge difference. Witchcraft is Creation alone and doesn’t include gods unless you want to and if you include them then you’re pulling in something altogether different: pagan gods, Christian or Jewish God, etc. but doesn’t have to include gods at all. Pretty much everyone practices witchcraft and mist don’t know it. Did you make a wish before you blew out your birthday candles when you were a chid? That’s witchcraft. Do you pull into a parking lot thinking, “oh please let there be a close spot”? That’s witchcraft. Witchcraft is Creation. The law of attraction.

Do you think paranormal experiences are part of evolution in progress, not polished and ready for prime time? Or, old elements that are passing away from lack of use? Both?

We appear to gather information in a variety of ways. I’m thinking of quiz taking I experienced in a critical thinking course. The Friday quiz questions were T/F and read by instructor out loud. I got 100% for the semester—I’m lousy with multiple choice. Boy I liked those quiz results. If there was transmission during the reading of those questions, I could detect no leaked tip-offs. Rather, it felt like my shit detector was working. Of course it helped to study, but as stated, other testing methods were not as rewarding for me.

So, what does any of that have to do with Wicca? Not much except classrooms and test taking are about my only rituals and not really coordinated with the group to manifest those “A”.s on a group basis.

What fun! But I always thought my gift of manifestation (Valentines, boyfriends in Levi's 501 jeans and finally 2 kids after I was over 40) had more to do with Quantum Physics. I follow a lovely Scottish woman on YTube who is somewhat of a Wiccan. She offers up sweet, simple 'spells' which I find fascinating since perhaps she is more plugged into the very, very old traditions of Wicca in the UK. Her name/channel is Colette Clairvoyant. I enjoy her channel as much for her rich Scottish accent.
