At first I didn’t know why Yoda was absent from this trailer, but I did some research and discovered that Lucas intended on having Yoda be a surprise, kind of like Vader’s line...

The only way you can be even close to as good as a great first film is to try to be better, this film did and also achieved greatness.

The movie is officially 40 years old!
I actually found out my mall in central NY had their first screening of it a day early at Shoppingtown Mall back in 1980. And fans would have to wait until 7:30 p.m. for the first showing. On May 23 and 24, Darth Vader made four appearances at Sibley’s, both at the downtown location and at Fayetteville. While there, visitors could get a free “Empire” coloring book and register to win free tickets to the movie, or a record based on the film.
Anyways I know a lot of people universally loved this one but I still think it’s really good. Another example of how a sequel should be made. Yoda was a fantastic addition opening up more about the Force. Lando is one of my favorite supporting characters. The reveal with Vader and Luke still remains one of the best twists in cinema history. This movie was darker, edgier, grittier, more philosophical, and took more risks.
Pretty bold too what they did with Han I gotta say.

The score, I mean John Williams work with this saga is superb. I know "Master Class" Gets thrown around alot I'm guilty of doing this myself but his work on these movies is one of the best Scores in cinematic history. Listening in has an amazing breakdown of his star wars scores I'd highly suggest anyone interested take a look.
FYI, I'm not associated with that YouTube channel it's just great scoring breakdown content.

Favorite movie in the series for sure… But the line about being “an epic of romance”when Luke and Leia are about to smooch just didn’t age very well

At the end of this trailer is a scene of Darth Vader turning in the stars, and the version of the movie I saw, the first time I saw this film, back in the day, had this (without the logo/writing) on the very end of the film. I was the only person in the cinema who saw it (possibly barring the projectionist) because in those days as soon as the titles of a film started rolling everyone made for the exits. Not something I ever did. I paid to see a whole film and by gods I saw every film I ever watched right to the end. I lucked out with this film, because every time I have seen it since then that ending was never there. Wish I could get a copy of that original version I saw. This was pre-special edition kids. My commitment to seeing all films to the end was also the reason only I got to see the tag scene on the first couple of Marvel movies, as it wasn't well know about them then either.
