What is it like to walk 20,000 steps a day for a month? Yeah. My brain wanted to know too. So I ventured out and tried it, so now we both know! haha
I take you on a walking spree across Sydney city parks and features (and a part of Melbourne city too!) as I find ways to get in that step count!

Happy walking adventures to you!

I am averaging about 24k steps a day, plus I ride my bike 10 - 12 miles a day, I also light weights 2x a week, push ups 3x a week with chair squats. If I was working FT, this would be nearly impossible to do but since retiring about 1 year ago I have time on my hands. I'm 62 years old

I salute you, I’m 60 and just started walking a month ago and can do 8, 000 which is about 4 miles and takes me about a hour and fifteen minutes, but I can say I’m definitely feeling better, long way to go, but I can say I don’t hate every step.

I do indoor steps a lot, so I'll walk back and forth, side to side while watching tv or listening to lectures and I walk whenever on the phone too. I use the treadmill on rainy or hot days as I'm in Brissy. Even on a sedentary day I can get 10k steps in while watching a movie haha. My goal is 20k. I've been doing up to 16k consistently plus strength training x3 days.

CONGRATULATIONS! Keep up the great work. My wife is 67, and she's been doing at least 20, 000 steps a day for the past 20 years. Puts me to shame, as I average only 11-12k steps. BTW, those steps are through hilly trails.

Well done on achieving the 30-day milestone. i love my FitBit and average about 13, 000 steps a day, but 20, 000 every day is quite a feat! Recently i managed 26, 000 while in New Zealand but my record was just over 43, 000 in 2016 in the Grand Canyon.

I am averaging over 30K steps this week Gemma. I like your eyes... and your steps.

I decided to stop driving and walk EVERYWHERE instead so I average about 24k per day. So i walk my child to schoo-20mins, walk to the train station-15mins. Get off the train and walk 20mins to work. I do the journey back, then take my child to tution, swimming, football and piano lessons, then shop 2-3 times a week and carry the shopping home. All of this enables me to get average of 24K or more steps. I have to be honest? I am usually exhausted by the end of the day.

Average around 35, 000 a day
40, 000+ Monday thru Thursday, Friday 35, 000 Saturday and Sunday 20, 000.
I never stop stepping … basically any standing turns into stepping. Been doing it over a year.

I walk 10 miles a day five days a week and feel great. I also include weight training three days a week. Feeling great overall.

It is something to do gradually and build up to. I walk to and from my office every day (Mon-Fri) and it is 5 miles each way and across country with big hills as I live in a national park. Total is around 22, 000 steps per day. However, even though I have been doing this for a number of years there are times when it hurts. I understand fully the commitment It takes and my hat off to anyone who does this. I am lucky as it is my commute to my work and back so fits in perfectly with my life. Keep it up and: "Never, never, never give in" (as Sir Winston Churchill once said).

I aim for 1 hour walks of around 6km, not too long but great exercise. I am also listening to a couple of language study lessons during the walk which forces me to study it, where I often procrastinate if I was to have to study at home.

I'm walking 15000 steps a day 7 days a week. Occasionally I throw in 20000 steps. Yesterday I managed 23000. Tomorrow begins my 6th week, and I'm feeling great.

Hey well done of the 20k steps in 30 days. All I'll say about the shoes is go a size up because your feet will swell. It won't solve everything, but does help!

My wife and I set walking challenges like 80k steps in 7 days and 60k steps over a 3 day long weekend to motivate ourselves to get out and plan places to walk.

I've never had a fitbit or smartwatch or any way to count my steps. I do a specific route in my large neighborhood so I simply got in my car and drove it and let the car tell me how many miles it was. It ended up being just over 5 miles which is about 10, 000 steps. If I have time and want more I'll just add in extra on my route. I don't intend on spending a lot of money for a fitness/step watch - I think its a waste for me since I do the same route daily. I rather put that money towards walking/running shoes! 😁

I make sure to do 10, 000 a day. I do a 50 minute walk which is roughly 6, 000 then the other 4, 000 just come from everyday activities, chores, errands, etc.
