Fasting! I have been fasting intermittently for about 15 years and recently I decided to do a 5 day water fast to try to help my body heal itself. During this video I share my experience each day as well as give some suggestions and advice if you are considering doing a fast yourself. I did this. Day 1 was obviously not too bad. We've all had days where we can go without eating. Day 2 is tough. Stomach pains, feeling weak. Day 3 less stomach pain but slight headache and still feel weak. Day 4 I felt amazing. Felt like I had some kind of new clarity and wasn't feeling hungry. Day 5 was the best. Didn't feel weak, tired or hungry. Felt very happy and excited. I kind of wanted to keep going a couple more days but I just decided to eat some fruit the next day. Def recommend.

I just got into water, black coffee, and green tea only fasting about 6 mo. ago. Longest has been 5 days, trying for a 7 day soon. Feels amazing & knowing all the health benefits! ♥️💪🏼

Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm 37 and have been doing intermittent fasting since I was a child. Never a breakfast eater. I've done a juice/water fast for 7 days, & 30 days of raw food. I noticed so many benefits, but it's been 2 years since I've done this and my body feels bad. Watching your experience has inspired me to do a fast again. Good luck on your journey.

Yes! I have gone 11 days on water only fast and felt wonderful. I am doing intermittent fasting with one meal between 10 and 4 pm and it is fantastic for me. The very highest and best to all in your journey of discovering what works for you all.

Glad you are starting young. Refeeding is just as important as fasting. After fasting start eating slowly maybe with green juices for a day or two, then raw fruits and veggies then add cooked foods and grains in order to rebuild your microbiome and digestion.

Listening to your body is so important! I'm starting a 5 day fast now, just looking for some last minute info. My longest fast so far was 75 hours it was life changing

Hi Devin. I have done a 5 day fast of just water and black coffee, I fid through research prior to beginning it, & was made aware of adding a little salt to a glass of water and drink it down in the morning…. Boy, that sure made a big difference. Certainly doable when you add a little salt…. I used just regular table salt and it worked fine. I also broke the five day fast with sauerkraut & a few hours later I consumed plain yogurt with some berries. I like to do it once every quarter during the year. Or at least every 6 months. A five day fast gives your the body optimal results…. Have a great day Devin! Your great!

I believe in intermittent fasting, I do it most days anywhere from 16 to 20 hours with one meal. But I also do low carb, keto as much as possible. Each to their own as far as their diet but that's what's worked for me to lose 75 pounds.. This has been over 2 years. I started intermittent fasting about 6 months after starting keto.

I've taken to and developed a ritual ... weeding the grass in our garden during my 5 day fasts. Helps pass the time, get some sun, earthing and weed out any thoughts or patterns no longer serving. So simple but so healing on a whole different level. Thanks for sharing your journey Devin. ☝️✨🙏🌱

I am so glad I found your videos, I was a runner too and have been fasting all my life because it felt right. I am 41 and I am the same weight I was as a teenager. I feel like fasting is natural and does have so many benefits 💚 I only get hungry the first day. I just learned about taking a little pink salt or a good one w minerals if you get light headed or hunger pains. It does get easier the more often or regularly you do it. I do longer fasts about 4 times a yr. I will do a shorter one after my period sometimes for the ladies lol sometimes we eat sugar or whatever during that time that I feel like I should recover from.

This was interesting. I too am interested in living a natural life to the best of my abilities. I’ve been fortunate to be med free for almost 69 years. I supplement with the purest of vitamins I can find. And I buy or grow organic veggies. I’m careful about what sort of pan I cook in; I use green pans. I practice other methods every day to avoid toxins. It seems virtually impossible to do unless you live in a bubble. But I think being proactive is worth the effort. Our bodies are pretty amazing, and we need to pay attention and protect them.
It’s been a pleasure watching you share a personal part of your life. I wish you the best of health! Who knows? You may discover a way to stave off the scar tissue issue. Do document your findings and write the book! ☺️

I've been doing a 20:4 intermittent fast for several years and just started doing OMAD (one meal a day). Every morning a cup of black coffee with pink Himalayan salt and cinnamon and in the evening a nice big meal. Longest fast 28+ hours with no problems. I plan a 48+ hour fast in late September when I have a oral surgery scheduled.

Many years ago, I would fast for one day only, perhaps 30 times over a 10-month period. My health teachers at the time, cautioned us against a water fast since our world was so polluted; therefore, the body might be overwhelmed with the detoxification process that is triggered during a fast. Instead they advised us to take carrot juice or red grape juice every two hours. I had good results physically and mentally. But if I were to launch a 5-day fast I would want to check in with my doctor first. I would also want to discuss my rationale for a long fast: I like your notion that a long fast might reduce internal scar tissue; but what if a health expert thinks the stress of a long fast might actually increase scarring? Perhaps you'll come to learn that a nutritional supplement has been found to halt the formation of internal scar tissue; I think aloe vera and/or honey have such effects on external scars. Your botanical secret might even be growing in a garden near your former apartment in Colombia! I think you are well-positioned in this search: You are the picture of health, and your 15 year history as a vegetarian I think will pay dividends now and in the decades to come. Buena suerte!

I think as a young man you’ve done well and if you’ve been doing intermittent fasting for all those years you’ll do well for five days just don’t try to burn up all your energy you get some rest drink lots of fluid I am 75 and I’m still fasting.

Devin you did good to last as long as you did! It good to fast every once in a while to restart your body I fast for the weekend one time all I had was water in a little bit of protein to keep me going and it really helped me. So good video man thx for sharing 🙌🏻

Its crazy my whole life I’ve naturally faster which is why i only sleep 6 hours a night, my body always has energy, never ate breakfast my whole life

Hey Devin. Interesting video. You are wise in taking more of a proactive approach while you’re still young. (I’m currently on a health journey as well, just a few years older than you). I’m Sorry to hear about your hereditary issue. I’m in a similar situation.

Be careful with a water fast in regards to electrolytes, as you had mentioned some chest discomfort. You’re probably already aware how important electrolytes are cardiac function and avoiding things like dehydration and headaches. You could always use a natural calorie-free supplement (Himalayan Salt, Keto Chow drops ect) during fasting.

Just curious what your baseline diet is like, but I assume that you normally eat relatively healthy (minimally processed foods, ect) ??
