Hey guys, thanks for joining me on my brief fasting journey! Really keen to hear what you guys thought was most interesting.
One thing I should point out is that I have done many fasts over the years, so my body is adapted to it in more ways than one. While honestly I think getting as much low-intensity exercise as possible is the best thing *for me* on a fast, don't push yourself too hard. When you're just getting into fasting, it's hard to tell what will give you more energy and what will drain it. Also, I don't recommend runs or sauna like I did here - those were the two times when I started to actually feel bad.

I can't believe he said mitochondria without mentioning that it's the powerhouse of the cell 😭

It's actually pretty hard to fast not because of the hunger but because of the people. At work I probably get asked 5 times a day if I want to order something or walk to the kebap store around the corner. It becomes pretty disturbing when you realize how much revolves about eating in your social circle.

As someone who has fasted for 2 weeks straight and consumed nothing but water and electrolytes I can tell you that after the first few days your hunger goes away completely. You could be looking directly at cake or a steak and feel nothing and it's kind of liberating when you don't NEED to eat.

I started fasting for a full 24 hours twice per week about 4 months ago and it's been pretty great. I've lost weight, gained energy, and it's really nice to not feel so desperately attached to food. Snacking isn't something I do anymore because I just don't get hungry after I eat my main meal for the day. Low carb and fasting have got to be one of the most beneficial things I've ever done for my body! Great video!

Have done a 72 hour water fast four times in the last 8 months. Your videos have been a major factor in motivating me to start familiarizing myself with fasting. Fasting is mentally hard but rewarding experience

I went on 980 calories and internment fasting for 5 months . lost 70 pounds with no loose skin, i thought metabolism would get damaged . "starvation mode" but i lost 4 pounds per week consistently. i didn't touch the gym however i lost surprisingly little strength and could walk forever, .

Great advice. Movement, cold exposure and staying busy are indeed crucial. My own experience is that regular 24 hour fasts (or OMAD) work much better to preserve lean muscle tissue, especially when combined with weight training. I just have a low-carb high-protein ~800 cal breakfast, do a low-volume but heavy gym session (signal to the body to preserve muscle) and go for an easy hike or a walk in nature. Fat melts, muscle stays, skin improves, mood improves.

I did a six day fast. Yes staying active is important and I was skiing every day. No sugar, no salt. Just water. I also ran, weight trained and did my usual cold shower and sauna routine. My vision improved to the point i no longer needed glasses. My blood pressure went down significantly. I also lost 17 lbs. Which stayed off.

My experience compared to what I just watched. I think that the trade off between the comfort of eating a little also hampered the total effectiveness of the fast. His benefits were surely worth while but not life changing like mine.

I suggest you plan out your fasting in advance. Eat clean food before you stop eating for a few days . And understand that this is a mental battle nothing else. Hunger, headache, cold sweats are all your mind telling you to eat. But 3-5 days is not going to kill you

Fasting 5 days was not easy for me. I did it mostly to lose stubborn fats. I had a slight manboobs for as long as I remember and I thought was a case of gyno. But no glandular tissue, so I figure I'll try prolonged fasting to see if my body will eat it up. And the body definitely did. I shed much of it, and even out of fasting, it is much gone now.
From many in youtube, the hunger should disappear by day 3, but not for me, it was there almost everyday, which made falling asleep more difficult. Day 4, and especially 5 was particularly difficult for me.. I just felt shitty ( lightheaded, what felt like low blood pressure ), and I had to slow down my workout, took more electrolytes/salt during those days.
I will try it again in the future, as I feel like I might've went into the fast a bit unprepared. The result is undeniable though.

If possible, "translating" measurements to metric system will help us a lot to stay focused on the video :)

Last July lost 28lbs in 28 days.

Having only 4 meals per week and those meals were limited to 30 minute eating windows. I also played football for about 5 hours each week and walked everywhere. My refeeds were mostly carnivore, but some days I'd include honey and berries. I had no artificial sweeteners. Only water, black coffee and tea.

I just went passed 72 hours. I'm going to keep it going. I'm only doing water. I've had heart issues and my blood pressure dropped dramatically on day 3. I'm not hungry at all. I walked 4 miles yesterday and 5 miles today.

The thumbnail is the exact transformation I got from 5 days without eating anything. Just water and salt.

I never did very Long exercises, just 30mins walks a day and by the end of the 5th day(120 hrs) I had lost 5.4kg.

Truly I don’t think you need all the extra stuff like cold baths and long exercises.

I started prolonged fasting 6 weeks ago switching between 2, 3 and 5 day fasts with the odd OMAD (1 day fast) doing similar as he did, keeping active really helps. Dropped from 101.4kg to 84.9kg (that's about 36 pounds for the metric challenged). I feel great, have another 8kg to get to my target weight probably another 3-4 weeks and might even go a bit under. Sleep quality has improved, mental health and cognitive clarity has improved. Being able to get in my pre-Covid clothes certainly is a welcome plus 😅

In a previous video you made some time ago you had mentioned (or at least I got the impression) eating small amounts of food while fasting causes much more muscle loss than not eating at all. It would be great to hear some clarifying information about this

I only fasted about 4 times this summer, 3 days each, went from 240 (105kg) pounds to 180(80kg). Every time I fasted I expected to get some of the weight back after a couple of days, but it didn't happen. I'm the lightest I've been in years now, it's amazing really, went from actually obese to slightly overweight. Though I did kinda hit a platough, now I don't lose much weight and get it back, I guess because I was more physically active during the summer.
