I absolutely adore Rebecca - it may be my favourite book! I'm not a big reader but I recently subscribed to your channel in order to read more. It's really lovely to hear you talking about books so fondly and this has inspired me. Agatha Christie is amazing also. I have watched all the David Suchet Poirot episodes but have only read a couple so I think that is my next challenge, but I also need to read more classics!

I'm glad to hear you recommend Maugham and Angela Thirkell - I've been meaning to get to both of those!

I'd love to see some more Persephone reviews :)

Hi there! Just wanted to say that I just discovered your channel, and I absolutely love it! I just recently started making videos myself, so it's nice to find other people who are new to this as well :) can't wait to see more videos from you, especially book-related ones!

I read Jane Eyre when I was younger and I wasn't a huge fan. I want to reread it to see whether my opinion has changed.
I need to read Rebecca as well. Same, it seems gloomy.

I love your video! 'Three Men in a Boat' is one of my favorite classics ever and one of the funniest books I have ever read! Enjoy. ❤️📚

Two cents from me. 1) R. Chandler - "The High Window". 2) I've always enjoyed 19th cent.3) DVD - "Beauty and the Beast" as well, no contest. As for literary ones - as a kid I liked "Ugly Duckling" a lot. 4) Tons XD - but let's stick to the one you've already mentioned in your video - "Jane Eyre" 5) I don't plan that far with fiction - the next classic I'm gonna read is 'And then there was none" by Agatha Christie. 6) B. Stoker - "Dracula" 7) "Bram Stoker's Dracula" by F.F. Coppola 8) "The Picture of Dorian Gray", the one with B. Barnes and C. Firth - great cast, horribly misguided adaptation 9) I coudn't care less about the editions :) 10) W. Collins - "Armadale"

I had a Somerset Maugham Book, Of Common Bondage, which I was never really able to get into.  Is there a website to find out about Persephone books?

I love the 1910's to 1950's, this time period is so fascinating. You need to read Rebecca, I love it. Love the Persephone books and I'm off to add Patience to my TBR :)

OMG Jane Eyre is my favorite book of all time! I literally gasped when you stuck it into the air! And, where did you get that copy? It is gorgeous! I collect Jane Eyre editions and I've never seen that one.

What edition of Jane Eyre is that? It's absolutely beautiful!
Lots of my friends told me that they didn't like Jane and thought her boring, so I guess you're not the only one :)

Rebecca is one of my favorite books- in my Top 10! You should read it!
OH MY GOD! I love the Alma Classic Fitzgerald's! I actually ordered a box set of 6 of them and then they mysteriously disappeared, never arriving, and I got a refund, so that sucks and I'm going to have to order them again. Unfortunately not buying them any time soon :/

I just found your channel and I'm so thankful for what you said about Jane Eyre...I always thought I was the only person in this world who didn't like this book... I actually never told anyone but I stopped at about 20 pages away from the end because I just didn't even want to know how it ends (so I still don't know...). The modern-day version of Jane Eyre would probably be Bridget Jones I guess, whom I also can't stand^^

Try "Devil with the Blue Dress On" if you like Gatsby.

THANK YOU! I think you are the first person who I've heard say Jane is annoying. No one ever agrees with me

Love to know if you read Rebecca and what you thought of it. I’m struggling through it at the moment because it’s been on my to read list for years and I do like Daphne du Maurier but this is not doing it for me mostly because of the characters 🤮! The narrator has to be the most pathetic woman I have ever come across.

If you like Agatha Christie? read Dorothy Sayers.
