Exactly what I avoid or don't get enough of. Please sandwich more of this stuff into more of your sessions.

I am so surprised! I have been playing and studying all-things Hammond B3 for many many years, and I did *not* know James Brown played the organ before today. 🙀 Thank you.

Re fingering at 56min into video: in Classical music you can use the same fingering say 1234 1234 1234 when playing a sequence. That justifies the thumb on a black key. So you’re right! ‘The rules of fingering is your friend because you can play extremely fast, but still comfortable. Think “A song for you” intro. Also think of the descending line in Riders on the storm by Ray Manzarek keyboardist. He does it with two hands but could be much easier if using one hand with the fingering that we use for scales. If he can do it in a more difficult way then I’m not judging😆

I have just realized recently that understanding and internalizing rhythmic patterns exercises [L.H. and R.H] are key to hand independence. Please create more of these types of drills. Thank You

Samba is my favourite right now. Tom Jones: "It's not Unusual" gets people dancing. Play the rhythm while singing the song.

Adam, I feel like my comments and voicemails have come back to haunt you ;) All jokes aside, the future of jazz education is RHYHTMIC. Metaphors abound, rhythm is the air that all other elements of music breathe. If harmony provides us with the raw materials, rhythm is the synthesis and creation on the stage. You can't dig that Barry Harris method if you don't place it ALL in it's rhythmic context--otherwise, we might as well go back to CST ad infinitum. I'll send another cursed voicemail once TIME allows (get it, time/rhythm/pulse?)

Triplets in groups of four and eighth notes in groups of three @29:00".. when you do these odd numbers of beats.. for.. these rhythms.. or even numbers for odd rhythms and odd numbers for even rhythms, you got groups of two, add in a third rest there.. then it takes you places (that are not square)"
