25:00 the whole Paul Bocuse segment of this episode makes me feel very emotional.
The fact that Bocuse has passed and Bourdain too has passed. The excellence of the cooking and the place. It’s a monumental moment and Bourdain quite eloquently points out that he knows this is a once in a lifetime thing. This is not happening again.
It at once speaks to the tragic impermanence of life and beauty and pleasure but also to how important it is to be present and fully aware when in the company of greatness and exquisite craft.
If I sound ott I don’t care because this really is a moment to be celebrated and it reminds me how Bourdaun truly got to experience some of the greatest things on the planet.

This is, hands down, the greatest episode that Anthony ever made. Parts Unknown was his greatest work, but this episode captures it all. Two legends that are greatly missed: Anthony Bourdain and Jean Paul Bocuse. ❤

I just looked up Paul Bocuse on Wikipedia. He died in the same room in which he was born. There is something so poetically full circle about that.

This one in Lyon and Quebec are my favorite Bourdain episodes.
Lyon, because seeing Bourdain turn into a starstruck little boy in the presence of legendary chefs is a rare treat; Quebec, because seeing Bourdain hosted truly well by hosts who enjoy and treasure their guest's company reached a whole other level in there.

Amazing to see Bourdain’s face while sharing the table with Bocuse. Also incredible his respect to the history of cooking acknowledging the amazing work of Eugerie Braziere and her influence in the french and in the modern cousine.

I've not watched anything Bourdain since he passed. This popped up on my feed, and I'd just had a few beers and a joint. I'm 30seconds in, and happy I pushed the button. From a Chef of only 24yrs, I have a tear at the voice.

This is one of the great episodes, amongst many, of Parts Unknown. What a concentrated tour de force of gastronomical eminence. I am not worthy to even watch this, although I have seen this twice. And we miss you Anthony.

You can see that Tony is a little star struck when he meets Bocuse. Pretty cool to see. Love this episode

My favourite episode. The best episode of the series in my mind. I think only two or three times in the series did Bourdain put a suit on and this is one of episodes. The suit is a sign of the respect he had for Paul Bocuse. I hope to make it to Lyon one day and try all the food!

I love the way these episodes end. There is always a grand family meal. That has a grand production but at it's core is love and celebration of what people have and where they come from. These are traditions worth cherishing.

"For the first and probably the last time i sat next to the great man himself..."

That pierced through my heart instantly. Bourdain, a man so appreciative of the art of cooking, so deserving of this meal...

My all consuming passion for la cuisine francaise has its origins in the iconic La Pyramide at Vienne, just south of Lyon. More than Bocuse, Chef Fernand Point's influence underpinned the so-called la cuisine nouvelle. Three visits to his 3*** Michelin restaurant in the 1960's did it for me. This superb film is not only a tribute to Lyon and its gastronomic heritage, but to the late Tony Bourdain, a peerless communicator of 'cuisine' and what it means over and above daily sustenance. Tony anchors a film that is manner from heaven on earth. No one did it better than Tony Bourdain.

Anthony Bourdain was a master of introducing the world to food and travel. Delicious adventures. He was a person with internal stresses and also pleasures. He is greatly missed, but luckily he has left an amazing legacy of curiosity, wonder, and well expressed narration in his own voice. Life can be long or short, but he had an admirable one. Would that I could have that particular career too, to taste and travel and meet amazing people all over the world. Not many have, for their work.
