Obama now is a legend in Vietnam. So is Anthony Bourdain. Even though Tony is no longer with us, the Vietnamese people will always remember him with love and respect.

I went to Hanoi and this restaurant just for this reason. I had the Obama special and it was not a disappointment.

Given the context, those last few lines are thoughts that will fester. At least in my mind. He was searching for a deeper hope. That’s enough internet for one day.

Politics aside, I don’t understand how anyone can’t like Obama on a personal level.

Bourdain asking if things will be OK for his daughter’s life in 10 years is all kinds of heartbreaking for a variety of reasons. Obama’s response is so comforting and hopeful that it makes the moment even more tragic now knowing what’s coming. Wish they would have included the opening sequence of Obama arriving at the restaurant, cause it was badass in that very specific way that only Bourdain & his original crew could have conjured. Also, in the years that have passed I still often think about the interview with the woman that closes this episode. It might be the most moving images and words that the show ever put together.

"You don't make peace with your friends...you make peace with your enemies", that hits so hard. It's so very true. I love this episode 😊❤

Eating at Bun Cha Huong Lien in Hanoi with the picture of BO & AB right above our table. The food tastes amazing

I always remember the beginning of this segment with the rain, the people, the motorcade, and the music. Anthony Bourdain has the best music and storytelling.

RIP Anthony Bourdain. You used food as an entry point to help us learn about each other. You are missed.

I still miss everything Bourdain deeply. There will be no one as charismatic, shrewd, open-minded, progressive, discriminate and all-seeing, proud yet humble. witty and wise as him. It pains me to hear his voice to this day. No one else could close to him.

I would love to hear more about Obama's years in Indonesia. I'm also a mixed American kid who spent some time overseas and it would be so cool to hear about someone who shared that experience.

Watching Obama compared to the Great Orange One is such a night and day difference. Miss Obama as President, and I miss Bourdain period.

Back when America was sane or at least less crazier than today. It's like watching a never-ending episode of Punk'd watching politics today. I miss Tony and miss Obama dearly.
