RIP Anthony. I am so glad that you experienced Cologne and happy that you enjoyed my hometown as much as you did. You will be forever missed but never forgotten.

I never thought Cologne would steal my heart, but it truly has! As a proud Dutch person, I have to say it’s one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The history, the culture, and the people make it such a special place. Definitely a must-visit

I met a German from cologne way back on an Indian train and he became a very dear friend. We corresponded avidly. He stayed in our house and years later visited us when he was teaching in Delhi. Now we have lost touch but I still remember him with warmth.

As a Cologne guy, I really apreciate his love for our culture. What a sad feeling to know, you will never be able to share a Kölsch with him. Such an open minded character, he is missed!

When I tell people about why Bourdain was great I always adduce this episode.

No other celebrity chef would have had a real conversation about the events in Cologne during New Year’s Eve 2015 while also enjoying the authentic local food culture.

You know you´re in a beer-drinking culture if you have to figure out how to stop getting new ones :D

I just found out that Anthony passed away in 2018. My condolences to his family and colleagues.
But also a huge "Thank you very much Anthony, for this love letter to our beautiful, ugly city. Cologne".
The world won't be same without you. Thank you and may you rest in peace.

As someone who was born and raised in Cologne, this is really a lovely portrait of the city and the people :)

Cologne will forever be the city in it´s own ways in good terms and in bad. And cologne is part of my heritage. I struggle a lot with how things are going in the city and how culture falls victim to bureaucracy and ignorance and more and more space is taken away from the people of cologne.

The best is that whatever happens, there will ALWAYS be people who will resist against hate, find ways to make right and take care of people who are in need, no matter what they are up against.

As a Kölner, I have to say Alt Bier is pretty good. This Beef between Cologne and Dusseldorf is more like a tease between siblings. We love our Neighbors down stream. We just don't admit it openly. That would end the teasing game we all love so much.

Wow. Anthony in my adopted home town. I'm so glad it left such a positive impression on him as it has with me. Go easy big man, wherever you are.
