As of February of this year it’s ILLEGAL to require an NDA in exchange for severances. Go get that check and spill those beans, Buddy!

I used to run an exterior company. I was young and ambitious, then eventually went through a divorce. Paid my boys out of pocket, gave them a small bonus after I sold my home, and worked for about two months to wrap up jobs customers had already paid for.
For two weeks those boys worked for free to help me get back on my feet.
People and employers really don't understand what others will do to help you when things go wrong when you as an employer help them when things go wrong. I'd give the clothes off my back for my boys, and they'd do the same for me.

A severance package that is dependent on an NDA is illegal, brother. Take their money and then take a dump on them 👍

My husband had emergency heart surgery. His boss not only paid him his regular pay check but made sure to not drop his insurance. Years before the local stream flooded the town. His boss gave every person working there their paychecks until it got cleaned up and back to work. The best part was that the employees did the clean up them selves even family came to help clean it up.

The thing that really pisses me off about employers like that, Jan 1st, they reopen the jobs and rehire new people at lower pay

Most company's severance packages are trash, but you got this. You always do. ❤
I wouldn't be taking that either! Gonna talk all the shit. Lol

Thank you for this. I was one of about 350 employees laid off a few months ago after working there 27 years. The position was eliminated and they expect coworkers to pick up my responsibilities. We were already stretched to the limit (or beyond).

My manager knew nothing of it until a couple hours before I met with HR. He has been turning away people who call, email, or text asking for help with something I was responsible for, saying "we no longer have the resources to help you."

Good. Let them feel the pain of their decisions!

Amen brother! I was hired on at what I thought was my dream job that I would retire from. I built an entire plumbing service department and was bringing in $40, 000 a month in revenue by myself. Getting a $300 highest earning bonus every single month. Never had a write-up or disciplinary in any way, came to work one day and at 5:30 right before I headed home. Home. They called me in the office and fired me. But that was a blessing. I now and a entrepreneur that owns his own company and I will never get fired. I make a little bit more money now than I did before. I make my own schedules. I don't have to answer to anybody but My wife and God! Sometimes when we see things happen that we call bad. We really should look beyond it as something God allowed to happen for something better to grow.

Been there, done that - I have a daughter with a high maintenance health condition as well. We had to make our fourth quarter numbers", etc. It used to be that companies rewarded their employees with job security in exchange for their loyalty - How many stories do you hear like "Old Harry over there... He's not as productive as he was twenty-something years ago, but he's going to retire in two more years. We're gonna just let him ride it out". NOW, it's more like "What have you done for me lately?". Corporate America today will chew you up, spit you out, and then look for somebody else to do the same thing to. Outsourcing and off-shoring are two other things that kill jobs. The bigger the company, the more of "just a number" you are. Ask anyone who works for Wal-Mart or Amazon (top two companies on the Fortune 500 list) how happy they are with their jobs. Sorry for the rant - Your video just touched a nerve. Stay well and good luck! Your health and family are a LOT more important than ANY job.

Sorry to hear that, My Dude. My husband and I love your channel. You are going to get a 9-5 with a fan and it’s going to be terrific! Wishing you and your family all the best life has to offer. I know you will land on your feet. Hugs.❤

I have turned down severance packages twice. Both times were because I knew when I started at the next place I was gonna loot every employee that was worth a damn and leave them with nothing but dregs. Still gives me the giggles thinking about it.

Absolutely!! I was a crew leader years ago at a dealership. My boss told me mid December that we were all being laid off with our last check being 2 days before Christmas. I was told NOT to tell my crew that this was happening. I walked out of that office and called a crew meeting and told them all. I then asked if anyone wanted to stay and help me close down the shop, I would appreciate it, but if they wanted to leave immediately to find another job, that was fine by me. Most of my crew DID NOT come to work the next day. Never blamed any of them!! On my last day, collecting MY last check a couple days before Christmas, I told management again how I felt about their actions, and did not regret my words or my intensity with those words. Don’t treat people like that, be fair!! People have obligations and families. I didn’t regret telling my crew, and I did not regret the reprimand I got from management because I told my workers!!
