It's so sad to do a job you don't like . Then get fired and feel bad about losing the job you don't like ..

This man's first response shows a profound incapacity for empathy. This isn't the place to go for advice. He isn't a good listener.

I just lost my job today. Not really seeing a future. Seems like everything I do is a failure and I just dont care anymore.

I’ve been unemployed for five months and I’ve never felt so hopeless.

I can tell each of you this... God never fails. I have been through 2 job losses as a single dad and God gave me a better opportunity each time. Trust in God and call upon the mighty name of His Son Yeshua (Jesus Christ). In the end things will work out. Save when you are going through times of plenty and trust the promises of God.

Experiencing this now! Losing my job due to plant closure. Thankfully, doing my best to follow the baby steps is my saving grace. Thank you, Dave. Also, I have an interview tomorrow. Wish me luck!!

I am in the same place as the caller - working as hard as I can, trapped in a horrible job and about to be laid off. I have a lot of skills, but becoming a contractor for small businesses would literally be Hell on earth because you have to be a master salesman and negotiator in order to find jobs and get reasonable compensation. Most businesses will try to get $1, 000 worth of work for $10, the work/income is not steady, and it's common for self-employed contractors to get ripped off/stiffed by businesses that know you don't have the time, money or resources to file lawsuits. Dave also doesn't seem to realize that most people who have suffered recent job losses experience tremendous stress, grief and depression and lose much of their self-confidence and energy/enthusiasm.

Poor guy, he sounds defeated. It is rough out there a lot of times but I learned the longer you keep at something eventually it will come to you. Staying motivated may be hard at times, but we have to pay attention to the end goal. Hope for the best and plan for the worst :)

I lost my 36$ a hour paying job and it’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I will never work for anyone ever again I’m self employed and managed to save over 6 figures. Keep your head up everything happens for a reason !

Dave seriously, be a little nicer. The guy is brave enough to call you, with millions of people listening in. He's at his lowest point, the least you could do be more understanding.

Come on.

This is what happened between 2008-2011. A lot of corporate people were laid off and had little to no savings with a lot of debt. Those people usually live extravagant lifestyles with large houses and expensive cars. Due to their high earnings they usually have a monthly overhead that is high but manageable with their income. Now the problem is that when they lost their jobs the monthly debt overhead was still high and they couldn't get out of those contracts. The car loan debt, the mortgage, student loan payments, and credit card payments could no longer be paid. Essentially they lived paycheck to paycheck with little savings, however due to their high monthly overhead those savings were gone in a matter of months. The result of this was divorce and suicide.

Going on 10 months of being unemployed and I just give up. I'm a veteran with 2 degrees and 15 years of work experience and couldn't even get an interview to become a cashier. It's just especially debilitating when you have PTSD.

You know Dave, I typically like your content and the advise you give, despite bringing your political and religious views into things. But this one was very tone deaf
