I am a NP and so I am very aware of the learning curve.. don't give up! Apply to community health clinics they provide great training and you will have a ton of support.

A P.A. can get a job. He does not have the experience for maybe a 90k job, but certainly he can pick up a 70k job with expectations that he is learning and in a year be evaluated for a raise

HR sometimes says things like "you didn't meet our standard" in order to cover their tails from wrongful termination lawsuits. I bet they let you go simply because hospitals are in a crunch and newbies are often the first to get cut. Good luck Kenny!

First, wife gets off contingent status and goes full time for benefits for the family. Sure its a little less per hour, but you will have health insurance then. Then caller goes to work. Couple is in emergency mod right now, I would pause debt payoff and cut the budget to nothing.

Dave gives tough love. My dad was the same way when it came to money.

I hope the caller goes and finds another job as a PA! I worked ICU/trauma at 3 different hospitals. First two were amazing they helped me and were great as a new grad. I left for a job closer to home and I walked into a madhouse! Everyone was having affairs! There was a little group in my department of hens who did not like me. They started rumors, harassed me, made up lies to trying to get me suspended. I finally told my husband I couldn’t do it one more day!! I left and found a great doctor to work for! The medical field is no joke! It’s like military! You have to get thick skin and learn how to stick up for yourself!

When Dave said "or three" at the very end, I got all the feels for some reason.

Why is it that our health insurance is tied to employment??? Such a backwards system.

Physician assistants are asked to do A LOT! Many health care corps and clinics are releasing their MDs who have more experience and residencies to give way for NPs and PAs who are cheaper to employ, but maybe don't have the best fit skill set and experience. Some of the best health care workers I know include PAs and NPs when they're experienced but this is a tough situation for a newly graduated PA. Currently PAs have a two year masters degree. The breadth of difficult cases that come in can be overwhelming. I think he can find a job which is more focused and then gain experience and skills in time. Best of luck!

I found it funny that the two ads before this video was for American Express and a new Volvo lease plan...🤣

My daughter got her masters for OT and walked into a 75k job with zero experience. There are plenty of jobs out there for PT and OT. Likely they told exactly why they let him go and he needs to fix that and find another job.

Would've liked to see them go into the details a bit more (with permission obviously). I know it could be painful to dig a little here. But I think it would really help the long term outcome. Easy to say just go get another job. Sometimes it can be hard to find the right lever to make it happen.

It can affect your confidence. While looking maybe volunteer under another PA to learn the ropes. Never give up. Never listen to negative people. Seek help. No one comes in knowing everything. 🙂
