There are thousands of sensory foot nerves in each foot that help with balance. Proprioception is often referred to as the body’s sixth sense and it helps the body sense its own positioning.

We walk fast, slow, side ways, backwards and over uneven surface, so think about how fast your brain needs to send signals for the body to adjust and react. These sensory nerve endings send messages to the brain to make quick adjustments to keep the body stable which is why standing or walking on uneven surfaces like the rock mat helps activate and fire up those nerve endings.

Also it just feels pretty good!! If you find it uncomfortable it’s a good sign to get those shoes off more often and expose your feet 👣
