One tip missing from both the video and the comments is this: before bump-starting, put the bike in gear, let the clutch out and pull the bike backwards until you feel engine compression.
This means that when you dump the clutch, the engine will spin a little before hitting a compression stroke. The flywheel effect will help overcome the compression. The benefit is small, but in this situation you want every advantage you can get, right?

The fewer cylinders you have, the more this technique helps. Speedway riders all know this 😉

Gotta love when you spend 10 minutes trying to jump start a bike to find out the engine cut off switch was engaged 😅 Two times for me...

HOnesty...If I jumped on my bike like that, I would just topple straight over

I had to push start mine down a hill
Super easy
But then I parked at the bottom thinking it was fine
So I had to push it back up the hill everytime I tried again
Took me 3 tries

I don't think I'll try this with my Goldwing.

I could be wrong, but I've been told you put your bike into 2nd and hold the clutch while running so when you hop on all you have to do is dump the clutch and throttle it. You kept it in neutral, so when you hopped in you had to shift it, dump it, and throttle it. That extra step was probably what was hurting you, but take what I say with a grain of salt. It might make no difference.

Edit: I saw you replied to someone else already about this method. Hey, you did what worked best for the bike you owned. I can't fault you on that.

Turn it on. Second gear, keep pressing clutch push as fast as you can then let go of the clutch....if had difficulty your electric plant is faulty.

After I almost passed out from heat exhaustion, and almost missed a Luke Bryan concert I was taking my wife to, I always have a battery jump starter with me when I ride now.

Before pushing it, you have to have it into HIGHEST GEAR with the clutch pressed of course, then release it and press the clutch again. Higher gear will make the engine turn more, not less and bump is less too. Easier.. Low gear will resist turning the engine..

I like to run it in neutral with clutch pulled in
Jump on,
shift to first
Hit started button n Roll on throttle and dump clutch simultaneously

Dude I would've just took a battery out of one of the bikes in the shop and installed it instead of pop starting it. being dead after only 5 minutes typically means the battery is toast. I know this because I drive a battery truck and sell batteries for a living lol

Just had to push start mine today, I find it easier having it in first gear and as you jump on then let out the clutch and it starts smoothly

Stand up and drop down onto the seat while dropping the clutch. Also, hold the starter button at the same time, the little bit of spinning the engine makes while bump starting helps give the starter motor enough juice to help the engine turn and get going

Hope I don’t have to ever do that. Your neighbors are starting to talk.

A way that would make it better would be to run with the bike while it’s already in gear (with the clutch in obviously) and then jump onto the bike after you’ve got it up to speed, then pop the clutch. That way you don’t lose momentum trying to put it in gear once you jump on the bike

i tried this it worked!!

a little more explanation:

- make sure the key is on ignition.
- kill switch on riding mode. (normal)
- gear on neutral.
- roll the bike to, in my case, 9 km/hr (6 mph)
- hop on the bike put it in 1st gear and dump the clutch.

good luck :)

thanks for making the video bro 👍🏽
