The genetic component is my top vote for the cause because I have been watching my family on my mom's side who all seem to have the exact same traits some varying degrees but all there and they can snap into place very quickly if there are triggers either mental emotional or even biochemical. And my father's side doesn't have anybody with those traits. furthermore my very good friend whose mother was a crazy narcissist the kind who opens Christmas presents in takes out the good stuff for herself and leaves crummy broken old replacements for her own daughter She is an awesome person with no traits of narcissism at all and then suddenly becomes bipolar and an extreme narcissist almost instantly upon taking certain medications. 20 years of addiction to opiates and for those 20 years she was someone you'd want to stay clear of in a lot of ways. But sober she's super generous understanding great listener dedicated friend. There's no way anyone would ever convince me that she isn't the person that I know she is so it seems to me that narcissism has to have a genetic component and that those jeans can be triggered by environmental factors including just high stress situations. I think the largest environmental factor is the people were around. when we interface with another person we match the shape of their reality and for someone who has that narcissistic trait embedded in their DNA if they encounter another person they can take that shape and their reality can turn inward on them and make them unable to see from anybody else's point of view and make their entire reality look like it's pointing at them kind of like the fall from grace.

No Love from parents especially the mother. The love language was badly expressed. It was actually expressed as hatred or disdain or resentment towards the child or children in the household.

So environment could be society at large? Like more individuals could display traits but maybe not be "fully" narcissistic. One could be predisposed. And if it's both or all three? Dang

I know of victims of crimes like sexual rape or other people growing up with complicated situations and they NEVER turned out that way. This topic has many reasons why they turn out that way. No 2 persons experiences is alike but there are a lot of contributing factors that made them a narcissist
