Let’s talk about the top remedy to lower cholesterol. If you’re on keto and your cholesterol has gone up, making you concerned—this video is for you.

Your body makes cholesterol, and it also needs cholesterol. When you burn fat, part of that fat is cholesterol. When you lose weight, the cholesterol has to come out, temporarily increasing your cholesterol.

If you’re on a low-carb diet, you don’t really need to be concerned about your cholesterol. But, if you are concerned, you can get an advanced lipid profile test. Cholesterol also isn’t a good indicator of heart problems. A much better test is a CAC test.

Bile is an important fluid in the body that is essential in regulating cholesterol. Bile is made from cholesterol, and it helps you break down fats, extract fat-soluble vitamins, and prevent SIBO.

You also have secondary bile salts made by the friendly bacteria in your large intestine. A problem with your microbiome (friendly bacteria) can cause a lack of bile, which can lead to higher cholesterol.

There are some interesting studies that show that probiotics can help lower cholesterol. Studies also show that fiber helps reduce cholesterol. Fiber feeds your microbes that then make bile salts. The best source of healthy fiber is fermented vegetables.

One of the best remedies to lower cholesterol is niacin (vitamin B3). Niacin can help lower your cholesterol directly and indirectly by supporting bile production.

If a person has their gallbladder removed, they might not have enough primary bile salts to remove the cholesterol, and certain lipids can start increasing.

Overall, the best natural remedies to lower cholesterol are:
1. Probiotics (from food if possible)
2. TUDCA
3. Niacin

3 months ago my LDL was 326. I lowered it by 192 points. I started hiking, running, light weights, and specially a good diet. Mornings I had a glass of water with lemon on empty stomach, oatmeal with water with blueberries no sugar. I did organic green juice that had ginger, spinach, celery, lemon, and green apple. I also did I intermittent fasting for a month. I only ate boiled chicken with salads. Also baked my salmon without any oils.

I am 75, high cholesterol, my brother too, so did my late dad, (he did not die from it)
I look it at this way, how do we know what number is the right one for each person,
like being size 8 in a shoe or being size 12, it does not make it wrong, just different
body with different needs. I use always cayenne pepper with one meal, plus supplements
and all sorts of things, I use fermented probiotic, Australia product, liquid Flora. Have
done for years.. so far, I am ok..have made it this far. Thanks Dr, for all your good work,
love your videos.

I watch a lot of Dr Berg’s videos and they’re very informative. However, if you follow his fasting plan as well as his keto diet outline, 99% of these problems will be fixed. Personally, I will eat a good handful of nuts before a meal to add fiber, then take a probiotic and always include kim chee in my dinner. Sometimes kefir afterwards. My dinners are quite boring as I always eat the same things in different variations. Simple but complete. And I’ve taken all of these from Dr Berg and my life has changed so much. Keep them coming Doc!

Dr. Berg is the only doctor that easy to understand when explaining things what happens to our body, what we have in our body, and what we need to do about it. Not like others it's so boring to listen and so many medical terms that you can't follow what they are trying to tell you. So bless we have Dr. Berg, God bless you more Dr. Berg, we love you so much :)

That's good to know. I've been dropping weight and noticed my LDL cholesterol has surged. It's usually high anyway, around 145. But today it was 178. But after watching this video, I'm not as worried. Because the weight loss could be the reason for it. HDL was 55 and trigs was 89.

Saurkraut is excellent, but remember to get the bag version in the refrigerated section (typically near hotdogs). Jar kraut has been ‘cooked’ as part of the canning process, and that kills the probiotics.

Dr. Berg, thank you so much for this video..I had gained 50 #''s during covid long haulers, and tests showed after that I had a fatty liver. Started taking bile, and I had lost 20 #'s, events led to my not watching your videos regularlt, and I forgot why I needed to take bile, so I plateaued. Ran in to get my bile..You have helped me understand how to reverse my fatty liver and improve my chlosterol too. Thanks

I’m one of those people who inherited high cholesterol. If I’m not eating healthy fats and lots of greens my cholesterol is around 500 (yes I exercise like a beast and poop regularly). Oh my gosh, but my skin glows and I look so youthful and feel great with that high cholesterol number.
But one month (4 weeks!!) of eating healthy fats and big salads and doing everything else right, my cholesterol will drop 150+ points to around 350.

Well, last April I had my yearly checkup and my cholesterol went up 230 for total. It was coming up slowly. I’m a runner I train for 1/2 marathons, advanced pickleball player for my area, hiker, walk my dog 2 miles or more every single day. I’m 56 years old. I eat like a rabbit except for Saturday where I eat at one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants. So, I had been getting my labs at a local hospital. I decided this time-1 week ago, I went to Quest labs. My total cholesterol was 170! Everything in a very healthy range!! I didn’t do anything different other than start a daily Yin yoga practice, doubt that had anything to do with lowering my numbers! ! So where I get my labs done MATTERS for my HEALTH!!! I will not go to the lab at the local hospital, ever!! I am now down to 5 mg on my statin. Interested in what will happen next round!

I was recently told my cholesterol is a little high. I asked my Doctor what I shouldn't be eating and she said tell me what you are eating. My weakness is bread and pasta but I don't eat pasta daily. I eat salad every day for dinner so idk where I'm going wrong. Thanks for the vid Dr. Berg!
