Yet that high cost of that medication may be enough to send someone into a heart attack.

I find it crazy that we can make synthesized treatments for high cholesterol but providing healthy foods is out of the question. And taking vitamins and herbs are not "studied" enough. They think we are stupid.

My uncle had cholesterol levels above 400 at times. He had bilateral carotid endarterectomies & a quadruple heart bypass. He lived to be 89.

Maybe they should take sugar away from type 2 diabetics first as insulin resistance is the number one risk factor.

I’ve been on statins since 2012, as far as I know I haven’t had any side effects. As I’ve gotten older a few aches and pains, I assume from age, or gym. I did stop after experiencing a pain on my side as recommended by the doctor. Pain never went away so that wasn’t the cause. My cholesterol went from 135 to 263 in 3-4 months. I been exercising and eating pretty healthy all year. Myself and Dr thought it was from MCT oil I was taking, so she recommended I stop taking it which I did. Two months later I got rechecked and it went up to 295. My good cholesterol stayed the same.
My triglycerides was 70(during meds) after 105, then 145,
LDL 60(during meds) after, 192 then 208.
Mine must be genetics, overall, I haven’t experienced any side effects that I notice.
I am 53. One of my sisters just died of a heart attack during Christmas holidays, and she was two years younger than me. My mom’s sister died at the same age as my sister, my grandmother died at 61. My mother is still going strong at 70. I have no history of my father, and my grandfather died at 85. One thing I will say, the ones that died never went to the doctor to have any check ups so they had no idea if there was anything they needed to treat. They were overweight. People always laugh and joke that always go to the doctor for any and everything but that’s why, I wanna do my best to stay as healthy as I can for as long as I can. I just retired two years ago and I would like to enjoy some of it.

The problem with a lot of this information is a heart attack is not something to play around with. so you can chance not lowering your cholesterol based off of the comment section on YouTube or take it just in case. Either way, we will never know the truth. The only thing I can say is try eating a healthy diet and get a body scan and see if there is calcium built-up in your arteries. Wouldn’t that be a better indication if cholesterol is affecting you or not?

I will keep taking a statin. I delt with the side effects and pushed through.
Now my body has adjusted to it and my cholesterol is cut in half. I was one of those people where diet and weight loss wasn't enough. Taking a statin worked for me.
Both of my parents died from heart disease in their 50's genetics is not my friend.
