Thank you for removing most of the clearcoat so it looks like a big giant patch in about six months. Bravo. Folks don’t ever do this at home.

For those of who you don’t understand,
Just use grit until all the paint comes off and then it won’t be noticable :)

In case anyone doesn't know all of the shine comes from the clearcoat, the paint has a matte finish.

I love how the processes of filling the scratch ends up sanding down more then the scratch

Its cool the way you enlarge the scratch to worth doing the job

Wow nice thanks for sanding most of the pain and entire clearcoat makes so much sense

If water makes the scratch dissapear, its not deeper than the clearcoat and can be simply compound and polished.

The only thing i will add in this process, is after sanding with 2000 the scratch and fill it with raw paint, sand it again with 1500 and seal the surroundings and put 2-3 coats of laquer and then sand with 2500 and 3000 + polish it. That`s how i`ve done it when was only 1 scratch or 2 and didn`t worth spraying the whole panel. Good day !

Before doing paint correction like this, you measure with a special tool to make sure there is enough clear coat left. If there isn’t, then you can’t do it, but if the clear coat is generally above 40 microns, or 1.5mm, it is safe to do this without no adverse affects. A good detailer will tell you all of these risks before you agree to have it done, anyway.

All the negative comments and yes, the clear coat was definitely removed but i understood the concept and appreciated the video. Thanks.

Comments understand nothing about polishing and clearcoat. Yes, he thinned down the clearcoat layer, but he did not get rid of it. It will not fade away in a few months. He will not have to keep polishing the same area over and over again. The clearcoat is still there. All he did was sand it down with finer and finer grits. Polish is just fine sandpaper.

Love how you just scratch it deeper so it blends in

So grind away the clear coat and just polish the paint. Got it.

Awesome job man ! Clear coat always gets sanded down after a paint job due to trash and imperfections, idk why people talk down on someone’s profession without knowing anything about it
