Why I Switched to the Sony FX3 from My Dream Camera

Switching from my dream camera to the Sony FX3 wasn’t an easy choice. It took a lot of thought (and maybe a little heartbreak), but in the end, it was the right call for me as a filmmaker. I went from the FX3 to the 6k Komodo and I want my FX3 back lol but I still love the Komodo and in a perfect world I’d keep both! Right now my compromise is keeping the Komodo and running a FX30!

I want to get either an FX3 or A7SIII but honestly my A7IV does 80-90% of what they do. I’d love to fuck around with really clean 12, 800 or have shutter angle (tbf, the 12, 800 on the A7IV is decent too)

Interesting experience you had. Definitely a case for what inspires you and your use case driving your purchases. Love my little Komodo and as well like the convenience that the more automated quicker options cameras leaning into compressed formats have. Understanding what is going on inside of these cameras can go a long way as well. It is always best to get as far as you can in camera which saves hours or days in post. Glad that you found joy with the fx3 (I see an fx6 in your future heheh).
When you mentioned a beef with red I thought you were about to talk about something they may have done to you but unfortunately expecting them to essentially pay you to leave their system for Sony is quite equal to Sony paying for the repair for you to enter theirs. Thieves suck. It baffles me at times how people do these things to each other when we are all in the struggle together while billionaires drink champagne listening to the village people making shopping lists to spend out tax money on 😅😂😂.
Bottom line is that their are no cameras not able to make stellar images now so as long as we have choice, we will bounce through systems in search for what inspires us to use them to illustrate our clients dreams.

But it is funny how people switch from Sony to RED just for wanting to get inspired and others coming from RED to Sony hahaha. At the end of the day is about where you feel more comfortable and inspired also whatever suits your work flow 👍🏼 kudos to you brother!! I mean let’s be real, what happened to you was your fault not reds fault. From a business perspective you don’t give up money for a persons personal mistake. It’s not like they sponsored you or anything it was just an unfortunate event. Blame yourself not RED

Big difference between the RED KX and RED Komodo! I see why you are disappointed. Now when it comes to you wanting RED to give you a discount for a mistake you made when selling the camera!?? That’s something that doesn’t make sense at all!! Just my personal opinion 😅 btw I am a fx3 owner 🙏🏼

Dude, sorry that you got robbed! No lie this happened to me on my Panasonic and you simply do not get a discount because you're robbed no matter what company. One thing I don't agree with you on though is that you were disappointed that Nikon bought RED. You may not know this but the previous owner of RED is one of the biggest sleaziest POS in the world. I for one am only NOW willing to consider a RED now that Nikon owns them and that previous dickwad is no longer a part of them.

The Creator was barely over a year ago, but I agree with everything else, RED is an overrated pain in the @$$ & there's a reason why Nikon had to buy them out
